Akron Recycle Cans Project

http://akronpeacemakers.org/Cans4Cash.asp

Recently, the City of Akron PeaceMakers, Mayor Don Plusquellic’s civic/anti-crime youth program, accepted the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s Cash for Cans City Recycling Challenge.

The 85 member group is taking the lead in encouraging residents, organizations and businesses in Akron to BE GREEN and to recycle. The teens, representing every high school in the city, are hoping to receive one of three top prizes ($25,000, $15,000 or $5,000) to provide a summer camp for elementary and middle school children and for uniforms.

The program will run April 1 through April 28 and involves the collection and counting of aluminum cans within the city of Akron.
