Feel Good: Waiter Puts Job on the Line for Boy

A restaurant waiter in Houston, Texas, is being hailed as a hero online for standing up for a five-year-old customer with Down Syndrome.

Michael Garcia refused service to a family after hearing their complaints about a boy named Milo, who was seated with his family at another table. Michael moved the complaining family, but they weren’t satisfied. When the father allegedly said, “Special needs children need to be special somewhere else,” Michael took a stand and said, “Sir, I won’t be able to serve you.”

The eatery’s Facebook page blew up with comments supporting Michael for putting his job on the line for a stranger. Milo’s mom added her thanks online, posting on a friend’s page, “Yay for people like Michael … who not only love [my son] Milo for who he is – a customer and little boy with Down syndrome – but stand up for him no matter what.”
