According to a new study, Americans are big, fat, gullible dummies.
Researchers from the University of Michigan found that the eating habits of people are manipulated in a big way by marketing, advertising and fashion industries.
We go by what labels tell us instead of what our bodies tell us. Also, if we believe we are eating “light” because of a package, we actually feel as if we didn't eat as much – which leads us to eat more later, making us gain even more weight.
Consumers are also manipulated by “vanity sizing” in the clothing industry. What used to be a size 8 in the 1950s became a size 4 in the 1970s and a zero in 2006.
This leads us to think we are a much smaller size than we really are.
