country pet rescue

Thursday mornings at 8:40, the WQMX Wynn and Wilson morning show welcomes GeorjetteThomas from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue.

She tells us about some special animals that need a home. It's our goal to not only find a home for our featured homeless pet, but to educate and encourage animal adoption in our area.

Although we feature mostly dogs on this site, there are many wonderful cats available at One Of A Kind Pets too.

True to its name, One Of A Kind is truly a one of a kind place with a special mission. They not only rescue animals off the street, but they also go to "the pound" and rescue animals who are about to be euthanized. They literally save these animals from certain death.
You can visit their adoption center located at 1929 West Market Street, Akron,Ohio 44313 or online at oneofakindpets.com

Ricky--our Adoptable Dog Of The Week

Hi there! I'm Ricky :) I can't wait to meet you! I love people. I'm a very happy dog, and for the most part I'm confident, but I'd be even more confident once I found a comfortable home. I've had it rough, but I'm so lucky I came across One of a Kind Pets because they cured my dermatitis and I feel so much better! Most of my hair has grown back beautifully... my backside is a little thin and they're not sure if that will get any thicker but I don't care, it reminds me of how far I've come :)

I have hardly any problems, just the normal things you could expect from any dog. You'll have to teach me a couple manners to adjust to your/our home. I sit to receive my food, and when I'm walked properly, I walk right next to you. I really want to impress you, and I'm a loving adult.

Even though I'm all grown up, I still need exercise. I would love a home that could take me on walks, play in the yard, and maybe even go on hikes! These are all things that would help us bond and the more we bond, the faster I'll adjust to home-life. I'll be waiting at the shelter to meet you :)

Styx

Hi, I am Styx and I am a shelter "favorite." I am really fun and a good girl too. I am anxious to know a house and a couch and I want to go home. With the passing of Ohio's HB14 that no longer allows "breed specific legislation" to dictate my future - and the future of my Pit Bull friends - the future is bright and we all have a renewed hope to know the love and kindness of humanity - and a family. The shelter staff will educate you on the different standards for my breed based on your municipality and then we can be on our way to a life of love and fun! I just can't wait ... and, I'd bet that you can't wait either. Don't delay ... I am getting for popular by the day! Thank you, Olivia Mandala, photographer, for loving my breed and helping us get homes.
