country pet rescue

Thursday mornings at 8:40, the WQMX Wynn and Wilson morning show welcomes GeorjetteThomas from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue.

She tells us about some special animals that need a home. It's our goal to not only find a home for our featured homeless pet, but to educate and encourage animal adoption in our area.

Although we feature mostly dogs on this site, there are many wonderful cats available at One Of A Kind Pets too.

True to its name, One Of A Kind is truly a one of a kind place with a special mission. They not only rescue animals off the street, but they also go to "the pound" and rescue animals who are about to be euthanized. They literally save these animals from certain death.
You can visit their adoption center located at 1929 West Market Street, Akron,Ohio 44313 or online at oneofakindpets.com

Jax

Look out how cute I am!! I mean gosh, that's all anyone has said about me, but there's a lot more to me... My name is Jax. I don't know how I ended up here. My owner died suddenly, and I miss my home. But I'm young, and happy! So happy, if you come visit me I will love you all over. You have to remember though, I'm under a year old so you know what that means... I'm a BIG puppy! However since I was in a home before, I have some knowledge. I sit for my food, and I know to potty outside (but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have accidents at a new home, because it's new). I'm very confident, and that's good because it means I want to please you. Now let me tell you something- don't think of putting me in a cage for 10 hours a day or making me live outside... because that just won't work. Keep in mind, I am a social animal - all dogs are - and that would lead to a lonely existence! I've already experienced loneliness and I'm looking to be someone's companion for life! So let's find some balls, figure out a walking route, check out a few dog parks, and begin our life together. A life of love, friendship, and kisses! Thank you, Olivia Mandala, photographer, for making me look as cute as I am.

Sherry

Meet our golden/Shepherd/Labrador mix breed girl ... in fact we don't know what the mix is at all! We overwhelming believe she looks like a white collie. She's just a mix of a lot of things... and a ton of cute! Something important to note is that Sherry can only be fed hypoallergenic food or she will get sick :(

Yep, I'm a good girl, but boy am I nervous. Everyone wants to comfort me but I'm just so shy. Out of the shelter environment I'd be more comfortable, but you may as well know it up front ... I'm a neglected dog that hasn't had any training and I lack a lot of confidence. I need someone who is patient and knows that good things come to those who wait. Let me come to you, it's nothing personal, I just need to build up trust with people. Please don't think of putting me in a cage for 10 hours a day because that just won't work - not for you or for me. And, please don't think of chaining me up to live outside for my lifetime because that kind of life is not in my plans. Keep in mind, I want to be a social animal like all the other dogs- and that would lead to a very lonely existence! So let's find some balls, figure out a walking route, check out a few dog parks, and begin our journey together. A life of love, friendship, and trust! My "thanks" to Olivia Mandala ... she's one terrific photographer! She made me look just as cute as I am in person :)!
