country pet rescue

Thursday mornings at 8:40, the WQMX Wynn and Wilson morning show welcomes GeorjetteThomas from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue.

She tells us about some special animals that need a home. It's our goal to not only find a home for our featured homeless pet, but to educate and encourage animal adoption in our area.

Although we feature mostly dogs on this site, there are many wonderful cats available at One Of A Kind Pets too.

True to its name, One Of A Kind is truly a one of a kind place with a special mission. They not only rescue animals off the street, but they also go to "the pound" and rescue animals who are about to be euthanized. They literally save these animals from certain death.
You can visit their adoption center located at 1929 West Market Street, Akron,Ohio 44313 or online at oneofakindpets.com

Sage

Meet Sage. She is one beautiful boxer! Maybe that's why she seems to have had so many litters of puppies in her past, but that's all over for her now! Did you know that approximately 25% of all dogs and puppies in a shelter will be purebred or of a designer breed? Yep ... crazy isn't it! This is because people purchase pets and then, often, lose their commitment to be a "pet parent." This is not uncommon in higher socioeconomic situations where the larger sum of money to purchase the pet wasn't a factor and pets are viewed as disposable. Let's change this for these deserving pets. Sage is sweet and lovable; she will do great in any home. She has an energy for life and is very happy. She hasn't had any "accidents" in her cage, and goes pottie right away when taken outside. That's not to say she wouldn't have any accidents in a new environment, but she would be easily trained when dealt with patience and kindness. She has the common "wiggle butt" of boxers and loves squeaky toys!! Don't delay ... come to meet Sage today! Because she is so exceptional, she won't be here long!

Georgie

WE LOVE THIS BOY!!! Meet Sweet Georgie ...

Hi, I am Georgie and I am a really good boy. I am a dog that gives and craves love. I will be EXCELLENT with children and will become a best friend too. In fact, I have been titled the "most lovable dog ever" by the staff here. I am anxious to know a house and a couch and I want to go home. With the passing of Ohio's HB14 that no longer allows "breed specific legislation" to dictate my future - and the future of my Pit Bull friends - the future is bright and we all have a renewed hope to know the love and kindness of humanity - and a family. The shelter staff will educate you on the different standards for my breed based on your municipality and then we can be on our way to a life of love and fun! I just can't wait ... and, I'd bet that you can't wait either. Don't delay ... I am getting for popular by the day! Thank you, Olivia Mandala, photographer, for loving my breed and helping us get homes.
