country pet rescue

Thursday mornings at 8:40, the WQMX Wynn and Wilson morning show welcomes GeorjetteThomas from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue.

She tells us about some special animals that need a home. It's our goal to not only find a home for our featured homeless pet, but to educate and encourage animal adoption in our area.

Although we feature mostly dogs on this site, there are many wonderful cats available at One Of A Kind Pets too.

True to its name, One Of A Kind is truly a one of a kind place with a special mission. They not only rescue animals off the street, but they also go to "the pound" and rescue animals who are about to be euthanized. They literally save these animals from certain death.
You can visit their adoption center located at 1929 West Market Street, Akron,Ohio 44313 or online at oneofakindpets.com

Jumper

Meet the "Intimidator!" This guy is hysterical but has been known to use his pearly whites when he feels like it. I know ... because he got me once. Then, because he felt so guilty, he insisted on getting on my lap and giving me kisses. He's a character and will entertain you for hours. He won't take up much room and he will become the center of your world. We think he's Terrier (how fitting) and Chihuahua but his body is a longer like a Dachshund. Who knows what he is? Does it really matter? He is one ornery guy that is full of himself. So much so that you will fall for him too! Don't delay ... come to meet this pistol today! His bags are packed and he is waiting!

Thanks to Olivia Mandala, photographer, for her kindness with all of the animals at the shelter.

Cassie

My name is Cassie :) and I'm a very polite, mature girl! I have been in a home since I was a puppy, but once a third child became a part of my family, my caregivers became uncomfortable with me in their presence. Though I show no signs of trouble with children, small children make me nervous – and there were 3 toddlers in my home. I absolutely love people and I know some basics commands - and a few tricks too. I love the outdoors and I'm very food motivated to get moving so going on walks are fine with me - in fact I have a little bit of weight to lose. I am used to a house and a couch and being a family member, again, would be a dream come true. Most of all, I miss the companionship and warmth of my home. I'm very uncomfortable at the shelter and I want to go back home. Might you be my new family and my new forever home? Come visit me at the shelter today, due to my training and sweet nature, hopefully I won't be here very long. I'll await your visit and I’ll look forward to it too!
