Every year, Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, releases its Mindset List to give a snapshot of how the incoming college freshmen class views the world.

Here’s a rundown of some of the highlights:

To much shopping could be bad for your mental health!

With all the back to school sales being shoved down our throats right now, it’s important that you take a minute and breathe before hitting up the stores.

New studies show that these big door-buster sales actually make people experience mental conditions like depression, anxiety and (our favorite) a loss of reality.

Researchers surveyed people who recently participated in a major sales event, such as Black Friday. According to the results, 20 percent of participants experienced high levels of anxiety during the shopping event, 23 percent experienced a change in their perception of reality known as “derealization,” and close to 50 percent felt a lack of empathy for other shoppers.

It’s easy to look at a slim woman and just assume that she spends many hours dieting and in the gym to maintain her physique. But the truth is there are plenty of simple behaviors that skinny people have that help them stay that way. Try out some of these lazy ways to keep yourself thin:

Eat until you feel satisfied not full.
Make sure half of your plate is filled with veggies.
When ordering out, always pick the smallest size.
When dining out, leave 1/4 of your food on your plate.
Drink lots of water.
Don’t skip breakfast.
