Complicated – Carolyn Dawn Johnson – 2001 – (Album – Room With A View)
This weeks gem is from the Canadian born and the remarkably talented, Carolyn Dawn Johnson.  In 2001 she released a masterpiece of an album, Room With A View.  I loved this album, and feel it’s one of the best overall country albums of this newer century.  She is a wonderful singer, a hugely respected song writer, musician, and performer.  She has written for, toured with, and performed alongside a lengthy and evivable roll call of A-List country stars. Complicated was a top 5 hit Country and was top 15 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. The thing about this song was its sheer popularity with fans during its run.  I had just started at WQMX, and the phones rang off the hook for this super relatable song and its spot on message.  This album had a few other single releases including, Georgia,  and another terrific song, I Don’t Want You To Go,  but this was the big hit. (Click On Those Too – Amazing).  CDJ  is an absolute inspiration for others to come from Canada and pursue their dreams in Nashville.  The fact that she didn’t become a long time hit maker is still a mystery to me, and makes me sad.  She is incredibly talented in about every way there is to be.  This is a song you don’t hear as much these days, and you probably should.  Chart position is one thing, popularity with listeners is quite another.  Fans LOVE this song.
