I love the fact that the new and newer country artists have respect for their elders and what came before in the genre…
It’s been long tested that you throw a few Merle’s, Willie/Waylon’s and Jones’s in your lyrics, it could country-up your song to some degree.
Artists have went beyond a throwback lyric…
Not too long ago all the rage was to have a guest, feature or duet on a song. (still happening)
Then it was sampling a song… Chris Young – Young Love and Saturday Night (Bowie) or Dustin Lynch and Jelly Roll with Chevrolet (Dobie Grey)… how about Jelly and MGK (John Denver)…
Is it a tribute or another phase of country music? I like that the classics are being accentuated to a new audience. Not sure if I love the mashing up of generations, how do you feel about it?
Are Post Malones Legendary Covers and artist help on The F-1Trillion Albums and Tour a factor?
Today Shenandoah, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan released a cover of Sunday In The South… Love the song! Version sounds great, just not sure the original needed tampered with, but at least it was Shenandoah’s to play with…
Brooks & Dunn now have 2 Reboot Albums 1 where they kept it close to how it was and the 2nd they opened songs up for the guest artists interpretation.
Jelly Roll joined Brooks & Dunn for Believe at the CMA’s… The George Strait Tribute was great too…
Only time will tell if this is the new phase… or just a few one off’s.
If this is a phase what should we call it… Country Re-Fried? Country Re-heated? Get Your Shine On Again?
I would much rather have the original artist on a track with a new artist than a familiar instrumental behind a new song.
