Can’t Break It To My Heart – Tracy Lawrence – 1993 (Album – Alibis)
This guy doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Time is not overly kind to some in our format, and Tracy Lawrence is proof positive of that. He rolled off a long line of very big songs in the 1990’s and beyond, and this was one of them. This number one song ran to the top of the charts and helped solidify Lawrence as a big time hit maker. It’s also famously the song his record company did NOT want him to record, let alone release. They wanted him to be more of a balladeer in those days as that was in vogue. Thank goodness they were wrong. He’s a guy I wish we heard more from, but the good news he still does tour.
