This song took a very interesting path to become the biggest song Miranda Lambert has ever had. This was released in the middle of her “kick-butt era” and was a real curve ball. Turned out fans loved this immensely, as the “love-meter” on this song is exceptionally high. This little story song of a grown woman getting the incredible chance to visit her childhood home and tell the current owners the house history and what it meant to her is simply stuff that dreams are made of. I think we all would love to see the home of our youth, and share what we know about it. I’m very lucky to be able to do this with my mom’s home of 62 years, as the new owners were sent from heaven to own my mom’s old house and now make it their own. About that there is zero doubt. It’s fun to share with them. Truth be told, this was originally to be recorded by Blake Shelton, but it ended up exactly where it should have. When an emotive performance is as believable as hers is here, it’s hard to imagine anyone else singing this. This showed us a side of Miranda that we didn’t see much, and she delivers this with perfection. A big number one, WINNING 3 ACM’s, 2 CMA’s, a Grammy and has an extraordinary video. It also sold about 4 million, her biggest seller ever. Many artists would have loved to have this song. This is loved still and will be played on the radio for years to come.
