Lainey Wilson is in position to be one of the most popular acts in Country, if she isn’t already. She’s incredibly talented, and hard not to love if you are a country fan. I have maintained for YEARS there is plenty of room for female “hat acts” and she’s proof positive that being one, can be a real separator from the pack. She looks country, sounds same, and has given us some really great songs in a short period of time. This song was and is wildly popular with fans, and is a new generations Strawberry Wine. When I first heard this, I was taken aback a bit, as it’s clear it’s Strawberry Wine – again. But fans love this song, and truth be told, there are many fans that don’t really remember Strawberry Wine as a generation ago. This is a new anthem for a newer generation that they seem to love as much as the previous did. It’s honest story telling, is arranged and delivered well, and will be played for many years to come on country radio. I think many of her big songs will be with us for a long time, as she continues to resonate with her fan base. This does have the sound of the Craig Morgan #1 song, What I love About Sundays, and that’s a fair observation that was talked about at the time. But this has gone a long way to solidifying her as one of our most popular artists. And it appears – at least for now – that being a country singer and star is enough and preferable for her.
