When I began this search and list, I wrote that we were going to hear some songs and artists that we don’t hear much anymore.  And this is one of them.  JMC had a short run of hit songs along with a very loyal following.  And much of it can be attributed to this song.  He wrote this incredibly sad, important, powerful and emotive song that was based on a real situation he was aware of.  This song deals with very difficult subject matter of a little girl in an ongoing child abuse household. This song was a very big deal as it was brave, daring and brutally honest, bringing many to tears hearing it especially for the first time.  This song garnered much national attention and spoke to  – and for –  many.  In short, this is a very important song.  Music sadly doesn’t get to say that very often.  Many songs are important in a musical, trend setting, or influential sense, but this was just  – Important.   Regardless of any long term success JMC had or didn’t have, I am always thankful he penned this and had the guts to record and release it.  He said in an interview with me once, he was never “satisfied” with this written song, as he wasn’t sure he captured the situation perfectly.  But it would have been a shame if no one ever heard this song.  His big warm voice brought even more heart to a song that already had an abundance of it.  It’s an important song, and it absolutely left a huge imprint on all of us that listened to it and played it on the radio.
