In radio, we ask you on a regular basis how you like songs we play. When this was out, after a few weeks we stopped putting this out there for you to rate because the numbers were so ridiculously high we thought, why? This song was LOVED by WQMX fans going top 10, and even that’s ridiculous as was this was certainly in reality a #1. This sold over 2 million, and sounded great on the radio. This song absolutely needed Jake Owen, I can’t imagine anyone else singing it. I have joked on the air that this is “The greatest song ever written.” Of course in jest, BUT I will say, this is right up there on the perfect “country song” list. It speaks right to the core listener, is incredibly relatable, plus it’s just plain fun! No matter what phase we are in, traditional country, pop country, Bro, heck any current trendy phase, there is always room on the radio for a song like this. It takes you to your favorite tavern and whisks you away from the infinite amount of intense songs, and the load of lovey-dovey and makes you feel carefree, light and happy! This was also on my 50 Favorites From 40 Years list at #17. Owen to me is one of our most underrated artists. There’s a “realness” about him that I feel sometimes is taken for granted, but it’s darn rare. He’s talented, versatile, and has done great songs ranging from this gem to poignant songs like Startin’ With Me, and everything in between. Here – The perfect artist for the perfect song.
