Meet Kiara

With far too many stray dogs on the streets, let us remind you as to what steps all pet-parents should be taking to keep their dogs safely at home.

Containment assures your canine companion won’t be hit by a car or leave your home “for good.” A fenced yard is ideal; however, a securely installed leash is equally effective when constructed properly. Identification tags, cost pennies, and can save your pet from the possibility of euthanasia, should they end up in an animal control facility and not do well. A dog in this type of environment can become stressed quickly and snap – which can result in a bad outcome. Many dogs don’t do well when they’re used to a house in a couch and they end up in animal control. This is why we work so hard to try to get them back home quickly. With “current” ID tags, most dogs are returned to their owners inside of 48 hours.

Kiara was found in the parking lot at the Walmart on Arlington Road in the Green/Coventry area. Kiara has a defining anomaly making it easy for her pet-parent to identify her, as she came in without a back foot. Our description may also enable somebody hearing this to identify her pet-parent and get her back home. She is a red and white Siberian husky, weighing in at just 42 pounds, and is thought to be around two years of age. It’s unclear as to whether or not the missing foot is due to an accident, or is a birth defect.

This sweet girl needs to get back home, or go home to an experienced Husky handler that understands the breed and can keep her safe. She still has a whole lot of living to do. Can she do it with you?
