This is among the best debut country songs of all time.  When you look back at the album cover, you’ll notice this was about 2 or 3 “Blake Sheltons” ago, but it makes the song no less incredible.  I’m not sure there’s anyone who doesn’t love this song.  This was actually offered to Clay Walker first, but he turned it down.   It’s the story of an under-dogged dude, who is still in love with a woman that for some reason is out of his life and has moved to Austin, but the “answering machine” brings them back together.  OK, that’s an oversimplification, but that’s among the reasons people love this song.  Everything  just works out and all is right with their world again.  Also, haven’t most of us wished at some point in our lives something like this would happen to us?  This was a big 5 week #1 tying the record for a debut single (Achy, Break Heart) and went 2 times Platinum, giving us the incredible career of one of our signature stars of this new century.  Blake also is on the list at #24 with God’s Country.

Last Week #16
