Meet Checkers …

This little pint-size boy was found as a stray in South Akron. Weighing in at a mere 15 pounds, he was navigating the streets, cold and fearful. Avoiding traffic, he was picked up by a good Samaritan and brought into Summit County animal control, immediately.

Unlike the majority of residents at Summit County animal control, Checkers is a new arrival. Our first goal would be to get this little boy back home, but if not redeemed, he will be available for adoption in 72 hours.

Checkers is a true lap dog and preferred to spend his first day at the shelter on the lap of the staff. Thought to be between 1-2 years of age, this boy has a lot of living to do and, if not redeemed, he would love to go home with you.
