I may sound like a broken record…  Country needs to stay in it’s lane and be original.

The latest and greatest are always going to get over used.  Duets, Collaborations were all the rage and still are to some extent.

Then it was take a hook from a song or a song’s sound and make it your own by changing the words.  Or in some cases not even changing the words.  Dustin Lynch & Jelly Roll – Chevrolet, Cole Swindell – Had Me At Heads Carolina, Jake Owen – On The Boat Again, Chris Young – Young Love & Saturday Nights… Even Jelly Roll & MGK – Lonely Roads??

This song season there are some very obvious and questionable lifting of sound and lyrics:

Dierks – Hates Me

I know what you are thinking… Ben it is just a Puddle of Mudd Summer or money grab.  But then there is this one which I like, but there is definitely a lifting of another song.  I am sure this trend will continue and some are better than others.  What are your feelings on this trend? bmckee@rcrg.net
