Akron Residents seem to think the City's new strategy for Snow and Ice removal that was unveiled about a month ago, is off to a good start.  Some folks noticed the Plows on residential streets in the early hours of Tuesday morning and that many were still out treating roads well after the morning rush hour.

Two area roadways that are notorious for congestion, accidents, delays, and of course headaches for commuters, have been approved for funding by State Officials to widen the roads.

The first area is in Summit County/Akron on I-77S between Arlington Rd. and the St. Rt. 224 Interchange where an additional lane will be added.  The other will be in Medina County, and will widen the St. Route 18 East/West Corridor from the City of Medina to the I-71 Interchange, where additional Turn lanes and Through Lanes will be added.

City Of Akron Has a New Snow Removal Strategy

After countless complaints from residents last winter, which resulted in the formation of a new task force as well as an apology from Mayor Horrigan, The City of Akron unveiled some of the ways that they plan to handle snow and ice removal moving forward.

More trucks have been purchased, routes have been reevaluated, and parking bans will be more strictly enforced as the Rubber City hopes to avoid another situation like last year that left many stranded in their homes, some for days, while they waited for the streets to be cleared.
