The City of Massillon will host a Holiday Parade and Fireworks display to welcome the Holidays (AND SANTA CLAUS) this Saturday, November 23rd.  The Parade will step-off at 5pm and will be followed by a 10 minute fireworks display to cap off the night.

Residents say that they like the idea of the Holiday Parade taking place in the evening because it gives participants a chance to decorate floats and vehicles with holiday lighting displays, giving an even more festive vibe to the night.

Cold weather is here in Northeast Ohio and Firefighters across the Buckeye State want to remind residents of some safe practices when using space heaters.  The Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association points out the importance of plugging your space heater directly into a wall outlet, and NEVER into a power strip, as power strips are not designed to handle the energy needs of most space heaters and can overheat leading to fires.

Creamsticks, Apple Fritters, Cinnamon Rolls, and of course, Doughnuts... All of these wonderful pastries and treats, as well as others, are getting rave reviews from Stark County residents and visitors of the newest location of the Dover based, Family owned and operated, Dough Co. Doughnuts & Coffee, at 4742 Hills and Dales Road NW, in the same plaza as Discount Drug Mart and Loby's Grille. Open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily here is seating to dine in, but of course you can carry out as well.  Ingredients are very important to the Dough Co. and the lines that sometimes form out the door have proven that the extra cost for quality is appreciated by their customers.

Akron Residents seem to think the City's new strategy for Snow and Ice removal that was unveiled about a month ago, is off to a good start.  Some folks noticed the Plows on residential streets in the early hours of Tuesday morning and that many were still out treating roads well after the morning rush hour.

Massillon Twins are 3rd Generation to Serve

It runs in the Family.  Twin brothers Larenzo and Zachary Chambliss of Massillon have just finished their Army Basic Training and are awaiting their first duty assignments.  The Brothers, like many before them are follwing in the footsteps of family, in this case its their mom, Linda, an eight-year Army reservist, as well as her 92-year-old father, Olin Ledgerwood, who served during WWII.  That makes the Fairless Grads the Third Generation to Serve in the Military.

As we salute ALL Veterans today for protecting our Freedoms and way of life as Americans, you can read about this local family continuing selfless Service in the US Armed Forces if you CLICK HERE

I saw the headline about this the other day and had to check it out.  Having been to Niagara Falls several times in my life and seeing the power of this 'Natural Wonder' up close, it was hard to believe that anything could be stationary on the river above the falls for very long at all, let alone 101 years!  Well, on Halloween 2019, the intense winds and rains dislodged the remains of the iron vessel for the first time since 1918.

CNN.com has pics and video, as well as the legend of the 'scow' that'd been hanging out on the rocks about 650 feet from the Horseshoe Falls for more than a Century!

Last year in November, new ownership took over at Hill's Supply in Canal Fulton, and this year the company is thrilled to celebrate 40 years of taking care of the needs of Dairy Farmers locally, and in neighboring states.

The company lost its founders in 2016 and had a couple rough years since, but thankfully the new owners and their loyal customers stuck around and helped them get through those difficult times, now Hill's Supply hopes to continue providing equipment, as well as Service, to Dairy Farms near and far for many more years to come.

By July of 2020, The Westmont apartment building in the Highland Square neighborhood of Akron will be ready to take new tenants.  Those tenants will be families with children that attend the 'I Promise' School, who may be in need of a safe place to call home while the Lebron James Family Foundation helps them to work out a long term plan to better their situation.   The “I Promise Village by Graduate Hotels” is a joint effort by Graduate Hotels and the LJFF to provide transitional housing for students and their families who may be in a difficult situation and have nowhere else to go.  Renovations and updates have already begun on the building, just 5 blocks from the I Promise School, with the goal to have it move-in ready for the next school year.
