In case you haven't looked at the calendar yet, today is August 1st. Growing up, I always dreaded this day on the calendar for one reason - back to school!
I knew that once we turned the page to today it would be less than a month until school started. Like most kids, I loved Summer vacation. After having roughly 10 weeks off I was not ready to go back. Of course like anything, a couple weeks into the school year, you don't give it another thought.
The thing was that seeing the date start with August made it FINAL. The countdown was in days or at best less than 5 weeks rather than 2 months still. Anyway...good luck to everyone going back to school over the next month - and good luck to you parents who need to pay for all the supplies, clothes, shoes, etc. (BTW, register on WQMX.com for a chance to win a $500 gift card to Staples to help out with those back to school bills)
Two weeks from now we will be getting ready for Neon Nights! It is happening August 9th & 10th (Friday & Saturday) out at Clay Resort Jellystone Park in Canal Fulton.
Another great lineup this year! Don't forget that WQMX has your hookup for tickets into the show with our Neon Nights Glowaway. Listen for the music montage of artists that will be playing that weekend. When you hear it, that is your cue to call! If you are the correct caller you automatically score commuter passes! Then you are also qualified for an upgrade to go camping!
Listen to Scott and Sarah each morning at 7:10, because that is when they will tell you when during the day to listen for the montage. Good luck!
Before the trade deadline, the Guards made a couple moves that will hopefully bolster the team and help us in the playoffs.
First, they acquired outfielder Lane Thomas from the Washington Nationals. Then today, they picked up right handed pitcher Alex Cobb from The San Francisco Giants. Pitching is something the Indians/Guardians can and have always needed help with.
Let's hope these trades work out in our favor! Go Guards!
I didn't have much to do over the weekend, so I went to the Akron Rubber Ducks...Aeros game with my mom and brother Saturday night. It was a throwback to 1997 that night so the team reverted to the name the Akron Aeros for the evening.
They had a very nice 3 run 4th inning, and a MONSTER 6 run 7th to beat Bowie 9-1. The fireworks after the game were a nice way to finish off a decently comfortable evening outside. A fun time had by all :)
Tyler Hubbard is playing at the Medina County Fair on Wednesday night next week (July 31st). WQMX has been hooking you up with tickets to the show with our 5 Foot 9 At 9 & 5 contest.
Today is the FINAL day to win those tickets, and you now only have 1 more shot - after 5pm today with Ben McKee!
Once you hear Tyler Hubbard's song 5 Foot 9, be the correct caller and Ben will send you to the fair on Wednesday. Keep your ears right here on WQMX and good luck!
It has now been 2 years since Brett Eldredge has put out a new album. The last one was 2022's "Songs About You". Also, the last time he had a top 30 song was 2020. Let's hope all of that changes when he releases his next album that he is currently working on.
No other details are known at this time and he has been taking an extended break from social media as well. We look forward to seeing what comes from this next album and hope it has a lot of success for Brett Eldredge!
Fans of Miranda Lambert rejoice! Her new album "Postcards From Texas" will be out September 13th. The album includes "Wranglers" as well as a duet with Parker McCollum! Many fans of hers were able to do some sleuthing and put together a track list BEFORE she made the release public based off posts from her social media.
Again, it comes out September 13th and pre-order is available now!
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Mine growing up was always Mint Chocolate Chip. Since I am older now, I would say that has changed. I still LOVE Mint Chocolate Chip, but I feel "safer" to explore more interresting flavors these days.
I always have liked regular Chocolate and Vinilla - maybe a twist of the two! I enjoy Rocky Road, and Cookie Dough as well. I will also choose a flavor that has some peanuts or almonds in it as well - unless it has coconut. I cannot eat coconut in any way, shape, or form.
Speaking in terms of local shops...a couple of favorites of mine at Pav's Creamery include Birthday Cake and Cookie Monster. Needless to say, I love Ice Cream! Happy Ice Cream month!
It is coming back for another year! - the WQMX Bowling League.

Don't get me wrong at all...I LOVE my job. I have dreamed of having a job like this for years. No matter what you do or how well you enjoy your job, we all have those days where we ask "Do I REALLY need to go to work today?"
Today was that day for me. I took Buttercup in for his vet appointment early this afternoon to get his Glucose checked (he's all good) and then when I got home, I sat down in my recliner in my sunroom. The windows in the house were all open, there was no humidity and I didn't even need the fan on to be comfortable!
I took a little nap and it was awesome! I woke up around 4:30 and it was time to leave for work. Except I would have been just as happy had I been able to stay there in my chair enjoying the afternoon air a few more hours. Here I am though and it IS Friday! Enjoy your weekend!
