Caring for children can be tough at times for parents, but it can be an even bigger challenge for Grandparents and other family members that try to step up to care for the kids of a family member that isn't able, for whatever the reason.

The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services has many resources available to help these families adjust and grow in healthy ways, including the statewide "Kinship and Adoption Navigator Program" that should launch next year.

The current site has a wealth of information for those that may be caring for the child or children of a family member, as well as for those that may be interested in helping children that may be in a situation where the biological parent is unable to properly care for them.  The state estimates that there are near 100,000 grandparents and other family members caring for children.

Local School District installs 16 Vape Detectors

With the concerns of underage vaping growing by the day in NEO, many schools are trying new things to try and curb teens from picking up the habit.

Revere Local School district in Summit County announced that 16 Vape detectors have been installed this year.  The Detectors were purchased with grant money and detect chemicals released by vape products and will alert school authorities to the location of use.  While these machines do not record audio or video, they will also pick up audio anomalies  that could be associated with bullying.

The list of Stark County High Schools that have decided to ban the use of Cell Phones continues to grow.

Northwest, East Canton and Washington High Schools decided to adopt the policy this year, joining other schools in the County including Perry, Louisville and Marlington.

Several years ago the devices were looked at as a resource and students were permitted to use them in the classroom, but over the last few years as more schools have been able to provide students with laptops to use during classes, the phones have become more of a distraction.

Several Northeast Ohio agencies and many volunteers are on their way to Alabama and parts of Florida to ensure that they're prepared to assist residents that may be affected by the damage of Hurricane Dorian as it prepares to make landfall along the East Coast of Florida and potentially moves North along the Atlantic Coast.

Organizations like the Red Cross will help to set up and run shelters and provide aid to those impacted, while other groups are already in Florida to help with search and rescue efforts in areas that may be ravaged by the high winds, rains and storm surge that could destroy homes and infrastructure.

At their home opener on October 26 against the Indiana Pacers, Cleveland will wear uniforms inspired by the mid 90's Black/Orange/Powder Blue colorway worn by the likes of Marc Price and "Hot Rod" Williams when the team moved from the Richfield Colleseum to the then Gund Arena.  The Jerseys will be worn at 8 total home games throughout the upcoming season at the recently upgraded and renamed Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

The team will also debut a new Court design that mirrors the new uniforms as well this year.

RECALL ALERT: Contigo KIDS Water Bottles

Time to check your cupboards, folks, as I know we have several varieties of these at our house.

More than 5.5 MILLION Contigo Kids reusable water bottles are being recalled due to the possibility that the silicone spout could detach and cause a choking hazard.

The bottles were sold across the country individually, and also in two and three packs.

The Consumer Product and Safety Commission recommends that you stop using these immediately if you own any.  As of this time only the "Contigo Kids" version is under a recall.
