Yesterday, I mentioned an encounter I had at the grocery store…
I walked up and put the items down on the belt and the cashier looks at me. She said “You look like Michael McDonald… Do you know who that is?”
I replied, “The Doobie Brother?…” She said “yep, that’s him! You must get that all the time…”
I cameback with “I wished I had his voice and bank account… but haven’t heard that compliment yet!”
She just laughed and started to sing… I Keep Forgettin’ under her breath.
Then I started leaving and was like, I get the grey hair… but then I was like Michael McDonald is probably 30 years or so my elder present day… Are we talking Prior Michael or Michael Present Day??? I just don’t see it, I guess…
Don’t get me wrong, I love Yacht Rock and Mr. McDonald is iconic..(Doobies, Steely Dan, his solo stuff…backup on Chicago, Christopher Cross, Toto, Kenny Loggins, and all the stuff he has written for the likes of Carly Simon and I’ll Wait by Van Halen). Guess I have Halloween figured out next year….
