Portage Animal Protective League:
Miles has been with us since last December when our humane officer brought him into our shelter with 6 other dogs. Sadly Miles and his brother Bobby remain here at the shelter still waiting for their forever homes. Miles was treated for heart worm and is still waiting for the all clear but can be fostered to adopt until he tests negative for heartworm. Miles will take quite some time to adjust to a new home as he was living in a fenced in yard with no little to no human contact before he came to our shelter. He would benefit from a home with another dog to learn from and play with. He is 2 years old. Miles has come a long way from the very shy boy he once was but will still a a need a very patient, quiet and loving home.
Portage Animal Protective League is a private, non-profit organization, dedicated to the advancement of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. In support of the mission, we:
-Shelter and find safe homes for injured, abused, surrendered and abandoned animals
-Uphold and enforce all animal cruelty laws
-Reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs
-Educate the community on the social responsibility associated with pet ownership
-Provide food through our food assistant program for those eligible in Portage County
The Portage APL is a “limited access, unlimited stay” shelter. This means that adoptable animals remain at the shelter until the right home is found. All animals admitted to the shelter receive the love and care they deserve. Portage APL does not euthanize for space or time constraints. That is why we are called a “limited access” shelter. However, there are some circumstances under which we may euthanize.

Humane Society of Summit County:
Say hello to Atari!
She is an 8-year-old Boxer mix who weighs 80 pounds. Atari is a a gentle soul who loves the simple pleasure in life like long walks, snuggling on the couch, and lounging in the sun. Most of all she loves her tasty treats and spending time with you! She can be a bit sensitive, but she warms up quickly and just wants companionship and love. She shows potential to live with another dog if they're a good fit, but she would prefer a pup that is just as laid back as she it. Atari shows potential to live with children ages 10 and older in her forever home. She is a relaxed and lovable dog who can't wait to find her forever home to nap her days away in.
If Atari looks like the perfect pup for you, give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 226 to learn more about her and schedule a time to come in and meet!
