Yesterday, I dusted off my old skateboard and decided to join a friend out at the relatively new skatepark in Magic City. It was great!
It's been a while since I've had my feet on the grip tape, and it felt good to be back out doing something I love. I used to skate daily, though I've never really had a knack for it.
Why don't we just say, I'm rusty....
The Barberton Skatepark is over there by the Dairy Queen, for reference (if you know where that is). Let me tell you, it's beautiful! They did an awesome job building one of the finest parks in our area. It's smooth with nice ramps and a well-thought-out design. It's right for every skill level.
The place almost felt like a cookie-cutter copy of some template design; and that's not a bad thing. I imagine those same metal ramps set up identically somewhere else. Unlike Akron's skatepark, it's just those atop a flat pad, and you could pour that anywhere.
Monday was a super humid, muggy day, so stamina wasn't all there. We skated for a couple hours and even met some nice fellows. I got some tricks in, and I did have a decent spill I'll surely be feeling tomorrow.
Now, I have to say, that might just be my new favorite skatepark. If you ride a board, a scooter, roller skates, or whatever- check it out sometime!
