WQMX 5Kay- a Run-derful Success!

Written by

The very first WQMX 5Kay is in the books! We all gathered on a sunny, warm Saturday morning for a great cause and we ran, jogged and walked our way to a fantastic time!! I don’t know if I can put in to works how thankful and grateful I am to everyone who was involved with putting this 5Kay together, but I am going to try.

To all those you participated- thank you for showing up! Without you we wouldn’t have a 5Kay to put on or money to donate and you all looked beautiful. My pink heart was all a flutter!

The sponsors- you made it all possible with your generosity and it amazed me. I heard a lot of nos, but I certainly heard a lot of yeses. Thank you for saying yes. From donating money to food, water and your time, I thank you so much. Here is the official list of our sponsors:

Kia of Alliance
Johnny J’s in Springfield
Jackson Hewitt
KS Salon Suites
Lakemore Wine and Liquor
Vizmeg Landscape
Akron Racers
Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Quick Care
Corona Premier
Pit Stop Market & Cafe
Hughes Party Rental
Acme Fresh Market

I also have to personally thank Jubilee Donuts for donating donuts and coffee, Pizza Hut for the the pizza coupons and to Shawn and Colleen from the Dusty Armadillo for their time and talent in helping with the official WQMX 5Kay tshirts. You guys are seriously the best!

To the Lakemore Police and Fire Departments for keeping us safe during the 5Kay- much appreciated!

My biggest thank yous have to go to Erik Ricci first. He works out at Forever Fitness and works at Jackson Hewitt and this man was willing to help out at every turn. We need medals, he gave us money. We needed help with the course. He brought us his golf cart and drove us around and helped us map it out. He showed up early the day of the run and helped us set up. He is the best minus his love of that team up north. He can’t be perfect!

Next is Amber Wozniak. She manages Forever Fitness. She was my right hand gal through this whole process. I would wake up in the middle of the night and scream- safety pins or trash cans! Then I’d call Amber about it and everything else I would freak out about and she would calm me down! Thanks, girl! Also, to the entire staff at Forever Fitness for helping out- Hannah, Jasmine, Christy, Colin and especially James the owner!

There’s all my girls in the WQMX Promotions department- Jody, Justina, Kelsey, Chelsey, Tracie and Joyce. Your help with all the things- social media, graphics, signs, ideas in general, everything in general and my sanity is so appreciated. You are my people- THANK YOU!

Planning and coordinating a 5K is not an easy thing. I learned that really fast. What I also learned is that it was worth the work. I don’t have the final number yet, but we all helped raise a bunch of money for WQMX’s Bosom Buddies. While I was running, a few people stopped me for pics and to say thank you for doing the run, and I was happy to stop and it certainly made me realize all the stress was worth it. Next year, I won’t sweat the small stuff- just sweat in general! This was a great experience from start to well…finish!

Go to our WQMX Facebook page to see all the pic from The WQMX 5Kay! And once again- Thank YOU!
