Former University of Akron football player and NFL player Matthew A. Cherry can now call himself an Oscar winner. He won an Oscar last night for best animated short film for his film “Hair Love.”

The film is about a black man learning how to style his young daughter's hair.

In a tweet from 2012, Matthew even said one day he would be nominated for an Oscar. Little did he know that not only was he right, but he would also win one.
