JC Penney is closing 154 stores across the country. They will eventually close more than 240. They released a list of the stores that will be closing first, by state and there are 9 in Ohio.

Chapel Hill, the one in Lakemore and in Alliance are the three closest to us. For me, the one in the Tri-County Plaza in Lakemore hits close to home. I grew up going their to get back to school clothes. My mom would order stuff in the catalog, and now online and we would go their to pick it up because it is so close and convenient. Sad news for sure.

The closings are due to Chapter 11 and COVID 19. They company says the closing sales should last about 10-16 weeks.
