Meet precious Appa ❤️! Look at this baby face and at nearly 1 year of age, he is still a baby in our eyes.
The truth is, all dogs are “lifetime” babies because they’re dependent upon humans to survive – daily. They need routine feedings and water each day. They require proper vetting for annual wellness and when they become ill. Ideally, dogs need a varied level of exercise to remain healthy. Lastly, and equally important as all of the above, they need to be loved, touched and valued. Meeting these needs is dependent upon a human being present in their life.
Appa was witnessed being pushed out of a car door in front of Summit County animal control. In Appa’s confusion and fear, he immediately began running after the car as they sped away. He didn’t realize his pet-parents made a choice to dump him with no regard for his future, nor his well-being. He only knew that the people in that car were “his people” and he needed to get back to them.
Dogs bond and love deeply. They are highly feeling beings with intellect and emotions. Their love and loyalty is, too often, underestimated – and they’re never disposable. They hurt just like we do and they mourn the loss of those they love, too.
Life can be difficult, and very unfair, for pets😔. The shelter offers no life for orphaned dogs. Pets residing in a shelter are there through no fault of their own. At some point, all dogs once resided in the home of an owner. Pet ownership is a serious commitment. Handled casually, selfless dogs become a casualty.
