I loved his first single, Up Down, and then Whiskey Glasses was a huge hit that really got him noticed. And ever since, the sheer amount of successful singles, product and concert tickets sold is nothing short of staggering. His popularity reach is country – and far beyond with his music being played and reaching those well outside of our format. As huge as he is, he does have his detractors. Some of his music is not “country” enough for some. But THIS is. His music for some can wander off format at times, then he reminds us of what brought him to the dance. This has that Johnny Cash – ish beat, along with a Waylon Jennings vibe mixed in with a modern flair, plus s0me nice guitar and steel work that’s delivered with some terrific backing vocals. This was creative, visionary, refreshing, yet slick, I love every single note. Even those who may not be huge Wallen fans tip the Stetson to this one. Top 10 song, that sold a million and showed the real country rooted side of one of the biggest singing stars on the planet.
