This is one of those songs that has an interesting life, as it is known word-for-word by about everyone who listens to any kind of music. Sure, it was a big country hit as Bentley’s 18th #1 song, and of course country fans loved it. But people who can’t stand country, have never given it a chance, or even know who the heck Dierks Bentley is, know this song and every word of it. It’s clearly one of the rare “break up” songs that has a sense of humor and actually turns out to be a fun song for our dumped at the alter groom in our song. This is also a “smart drinking song” as it does have a heart and a soul. It’s uptempo and now matter how many years go by, it still will get about any bar or tavern singing on a busy Saturday night. Dierks has had a ton of very big songs, but none in the grand scheme of things as big as this one.
