There’s no doubt Luke Bryan is one of our biggest stars this century so far. But not many have benefited so greatly by 5 minutes of being in the spotlight on national TV as Luke did. His award show performance of this song on live TV took his career from darn good to really huge in the blink of an eye. And he has not looked back since. That’s not to minimize the career he had before this song, or since. But we all saw a young artist simply explode right in front of our eyes. Bryan wrote this song, and it is perfect for him, I can’t imagine anyone else singing this song. The sheer size of this is staggering. It went number one as you might expect, and fans loved every note. But is it also one of the biggest selling country songs ever, as it has passed the 8 million mark. It’s hard to call it a “Signature” Luke song, as he has had so many big hits of various styles and tempo, but this as much as any fits the bill. Fans also LOVE Drink A Beer as well, but this song fills dance floors and makes people sing along, as this became on of the anthems of the Bro Country Movement. In short, hit songs don’t get much bigger than this
