You heard that the leader of the iconic Beach Boys, Brian Wilson passed away this week at the age of 82. He perfected a sound that was so unique that still today, they are not confused with any other act in music history.  That is damn rare.  He was a genius in that regard.

In 1996 the Beach Boys came to Nashville and recorded an album called Stars And Stripes Volume 1.  It was a compilation of classic Beach Boy songs, done in duet form with many of the biggest stars in country of time.  Willie, Toby Keith, Lorrie Morgan and many others.  It was a great album, and was among the first of its kind.  The Eagles also did one (1993 that reunited Eagles after many years),  Lionel Ritchie, Motley Crew, and others have been done since, even Post Malone’s album was a series of big name duets, although that is original material.

On Stars And Stripes, the Beach Boys sang backup and this turned out really fun.  Stars And Strips Album And Story .   

It’s in my playlist, worth a download or at least a check-out.  I’ll post a couple highlights below.  There was a Volume 2 scheduled, but for various reasons it never happened.
