Faith Hill – Breathe – 2000 (Album – Breathe)
I was wondering what the Number One Country Song was on January 1, 2000, as we have just started a new year 25 years into this new century. And it was this one. Turns out this went number one the week before, and stayed at number one for 6 weeks. In country that’s about unheard of. It’s more possible in December though as record companies don’t do as much marketing, and the charts are stagnant. But no matter, this is the biggest hit Faith ever had in country. This also did very well on the pop charts and was one of those songs that about everybody liked for various reasons no matter who you were. It’s a great written song, arranged perfectly that ended up in the absolute correct hands of Faith Hill. This album was an immense success, and further pointed Faith in a very new mainstream direction, as her next album, Cry was a straight up pop album. She, this song, and album were all Grammy winners as was the song, Cry from her next project. She sang the anthem at the Superbowl that year as well. This song was the zenith of the incredible career of Faith Hill. It was the #1 single of the year 2000.
