You’ve heard this Christmas song your entire life probably about 5,000 times.  It’s a classic from the pen of Jose Feliciano, as he wrote it in 1970.  It’s been played millions of times and has been recorded dozens of times by various other artists, but his version is the one that sticks. 

It’s another song with a very interesting story, as so many of these Christmas songs do. Songs are written by creative people who many times are better at jotting down their emotions than many of us.  Feliciano is a very talented guitarist and singer from Puerto Rico, and one Christmas he was extremely homesick on Christmas Eve and he wrote this song to express how he was feeling. The legend is that this song went from writing to recorded in about 30 minutes.  Recorded in 10 minutes, with 19 total words in it.  13 English and 6 Spanish. 

It charted on numerous charts in many countries for many years and with airplay enters our charts in America about every Christmas season.  This wonderful little song makes you happy.  It is also one of the most played Christmas songs of all time.  It has been viewed as one of the most authentic and real Christmas wishes from an artist ever.
