Chicken Fried is about as original as a song can get.  Fans still love that it, and it got the ZBB noticed.  But in the years to come, they would surprise all of us with the depth of their music, and the tone of their very unique concerts.

To categorize the ZBB is difficult. They have country roots there is no doubt, but they are many other things too.  Talented is certainly one of them.  ZBB with their incredible musicians,  slick and tight harmonies carved out their own path.   Their sound is their own, and they had great success on the country charts.  But to attend a ZBB concert, you quickly notice that in addition to a country fan base there are also different bases there as well.  Yacht Rockers?  Jazz Fans?  Folk Fans?  Bluegrass?   Yep, they’re all there.

They’ve had a bunch of #1 songs, and have sold over 10 million albums and about 30 million singles. They have recorded with many top shelf stars, Alan Jackson,  the late Jimmy Buffett, and even Dolly, Kid Rock, John Fogerty, Snoop, and many more.   They have an appeal far outside of the regular country act.

One of the real gifts they have is one that is tough to have.  You absolutely know when it’s them when they are on the radio, and that’s a gift.   They are also a very interesting story. They became popular in Atlanta, and were together for many years before making it big.   Not many bands stay together that long before getting the break.

Even though today, they are not the force on the country charts as they once were, they still have a tremendous following and still tour extensively at festivals  –  country and otherwise.
