An El Camino Type of Day!

Written by
The motorcycle is all but put away for the season, but it's prime time to be driving my little classic truck. It's that perfect temperature this week where I need no climate controls aside from the crank windows, and I am digging it! I've got a built 350 engine in Eleanor, and I would consider the range around the mid-60's to be ideal operating temperature for that vehicle, all things considered. With it being Elky…

First Frost

Written by
Ah, 32-degree nights and 70-degree days: it must be October! Despite being a lifelong Ohioan, I'm always a bit surprised by the first frost of the season, and this time around was no exception. It came Sunday night into Monday, serving as another reminder as to why many of us, (particularly the elderly) migrate to the south for Wintertime. It's cold!  These days I don't know whether to wear my heavy wool socks or ankle…

The Trees!

Written by
There are some stunning fall colors out here in Northeast Ohio at this time of the year, and from my back porch, I can see them all. They're simply beautiful.  Some blogs take a bit of effort to think of, but this one came naturally, literally! I was outside, as I so often am, when I noticed that every phase of Autumn was right before my eyes. There were shades of green in the grass…

Halloween Costumes

Written by
As always, I have no idea what to be for Halloween. I have had a reminder on my phone for about two months now to think of my costume, and now it's the 11th hour. There are surely going to be plenty of costume parties and other spooky celebrations this weekend, and I have been invited to one Saturday evening. I just don't know what to wear! My problem is that I have really long…

My Top Ten: Favorite Movie Cars!

Written by
At most any given moment, I've got cars on the brain. I will halt a conversation, gasp, and point as if I saw a pig flying through the air whenever I see something sweet on the road. I've caused drivers to worry that danger is impending with how intensely I have been captivated by an automobile. I love classic cars, big trucks, little trucks, sports cars, luxury vehicles, muscle cars, vans, wagons, off-roaders, tuners, and…

Scratching My Head

Written by
Recently I've been getting back into watching one of my all-time favorite shows, The Simpsons. I picked back up around season 7, a point in the series where I think they were putting out some of the best episodes. Earlier ones are less visually appealing and include some references I don't understand, and anything past season 15 or so is a hollow shell of what once was. They removed some characters and made the show…

Secret Skills

Written by
I've always been one of those people who is generally decent at most things, but not exceptional. I'm not the greatest skateboarder, guitarist, artist, or athlete, but I'm also not bad. I cast a wide net and enjoy doing a variety of activities; I simply don't have the patience to master just one thing.  With that said, there are a couple of things that for some reason, I excel at doing. I like to call…

One Last Ride

Written by
On Friday, it was nice outside. Throughout the afternoon the sun was shining, and the temps were in the mid-60's. As I drove around, I noticed an uptick in classic cars and motorcycles on the roads, and this inspired me to bust out the old Nighthawk. It had been a few weeks since I last had the bike out for a cruise, and it was a total blast to be behind the handlebars once more.…

Gettin' Back Into Guitar

Written by
I've played a good number of instruments in my lifetime. My first experience learning music was with the recorder in elementary school, and I never really loved it. A few years went by, and in middle school I found myself taking private lessons on the trumpet. My instructor was a coworker of my mom's. He told me I have an ear for music and a solid playing tone, but I never really cared to take…

My Top Ten: Childhood Toys

Written by
Sometimes I feel like a big kid. By that, I mean I cannot go through a supermarket without checking out the toy aisle. I know many adults hunt for rare items to resell online, but when it comes to buying out toys meant for children I'm not a fan of that. No disrespect. If there's some collectible Funko Pop or similarly limited edition display-piece, that's totally different. Personally, I will scoop up every single El…
