Joe Headley

staff tim homeJoe is an enthusiastic young talent in radio who is living the dream as a personality on his favorite station, WQMX! Joe got his start in college serving as the Production Director for the University of Akron's Z88, and his love for live and local radio has since skyrocketed. He was brought on as an intern for RCRG in 2022 working as a weekend jock and member of the street team in promotions until landing the overnight position on WQMX.

Joe is a lifelong local to the Akron/Canton area. Outside of the studio, he has a love for boating, fishing, disc golf, and off-roading. He is the proud owner of a classic American muscle car, and the toughest decision he faces on a sunny day is whether to drive his Chevy or ride his motorcycle. Fun fact: Joe LOVES grape flavor.

Don't be THAT person...

I hope you had a nice weekend. Personally, mine had some ups and downs. The worst part was when my antenna ball was stolen.  I don't know exactly when or where it happened, but I noticed my little smiley-face dude was missing when I came out of the dollar store Saturday afternoon. We were also out shopping Friday, and it could have easily happened then, so there's no way to know. Regardless, I was both…

Beckham and Top

Wow! What an awesome show that was at the Dusty Armadillo Thursday night with Chayce Beckham and Zach Top. Those guys were fun to meet, and each put on a good show. We raised a bunch of money for NEOPAT and sold the place out! That's all thanks to our wonderful listeners, like you. We appreciate all the support helping this worthy charitable organization in their mission to uplift local Veterans.  So, thank you! I'm…

My Top Ten: Pixar Movies

With Easter just around the corner, I've really been scratching my head on what I could rank this time around in relation to the holiday. I've already done my top ten holidays and I've listed my favorite candies too. I did Thanksgiving dinner dishes, but Easter meals really don't hold the same notoriety. Outside of all that, we've been in the midst of March Madness, Springtime is upon us, and April Fools' is only a…

Big Jackpots

As you may know already, the Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries have been steadily growing to about a billion dollars each. The latest drawing was Tuesday evening for the 1.2 billion dollar Mega Millions prize, and as of the time I'm writing this, no winner has come forward. On Monday, a winnerless Powerball drawing was held, as well. That results in another shot at this massive wealth come Wednesday evening (tonight), now at 865 million…

Woah!

This is so incredible, I couldn't neglect to share. You know how most of the time you're feeling well, then you get sick and think about how you took breathing out of your nose for granted? Or let's say you're laid up from an injury; then your appreciation for the times you're in better health increases? That's how it always goes for me, at least. Those examples reflect the feeling I felt on my latest…

The Worm Moon!

Working overnights, there're advantages and drawbacks. For example on the plus side, there's very little traffic during my commute to and from the station here. As for the downside, it's little things like my inability to stop by the store on my way out to pick up whatever I might need. My schedule is a bit different than that of anyone else in my life, too. I full heartedly love what I do and I'm…

This Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

No, it's not a monster truck rally as the title of this blog might suggest. It is, however, just as exciting if you're somebody like me. I'm talking about the WQMX Akron-Canton Hunting, Fishing, and Outdoor Show going down at the Maps Air Museum near the Akron-Canton Airport this weekend! It's happening both Saturday and Sunday, and we'd love it if you came on out.  Scott and Sarah kick things off Saturday morning from 9…

My Top Ten: Chores

It's Springtime! Critters are waking up from hibernation, flowers are beginning to poke their way through the dirt, birds are chirping, and that one thing is back in the sky... I think it's called the sun?  It's about that time of the year for us to let the rays beam in through the windows. If your home is anything like mine, this natural light reveals all the dust and grunge. There's the inevitable clutter everywhere…

Hey, that's not half bad!

Every artist has their medium. Songwriters play pianos, painters lay oil-based colors, sculptors chisel marble, and photographers capture the world with cameras. When it comes to dry-erase markers on a whiteboard, though; it's hardly a medium... and that works out since I'm hardly an artist! I like to think I'm creative more so than artistic. As a casual multi-instrumentalist, I'd probably label myself a musician, if anything. I suppose I'm something of a wordsmith, too. So,…

On my way into the station here this evening, the old Blazer hit a milestone. I've been looking forward to catching this moment. We just crossed over to two hundred twenty-two thousand, two hundred twenty-two miles. She's still just getting broken in!  High mileage isn't uncommon in these S-10 platform vehicles and I'm fortunate to have some of the best options for longevity with the 4.3 V6 and 5-Speed manual transmission. According to the guy…
