Drive – Alan Jackson – 2002
Before we talk extensively about this big hit song, full disclosure this is not among my favorites from him. I love many of his hits, but I will admit, this is among his fans favorites by a mile. This was a gigantic hit that resonated with listeners as we all went down our own memory lane with his incredible story telling and lyric line. I mean we all learned to drive once. This was in the middle of his remarkable run, and just when it seemed he couldn’t get any bigger he throws out a song like this. This went #1, and sold a few million. It also went to #28 on the Hot 100 List that year. This song fueled the album to be the CMA and ACM Album Of The Year, and Jackson to be the Entertainer Of The Year. The video was also an award winner. Even Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it at #52 on its 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time List. It was interesting to watch this song and album, as it was the 12th album of his career and many feel overall, it was the best work he ever did. This song is loved and was extremely popular at the time. Many Jackson fans would still call this one of their favorite AJ songs. One of the biggest hits of his very long career.
