Moral Dilemma Monday, 4/29/19

MDM:

My 8 year-old daughter told me that most of the girls in her class wear eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss now. I think they all look ridiculous and over do it.

She wants to start wearing it too, I told her no. I don't want my daughter going to school looking like that. I'm afraid if I tell her no, she'll do it anyway and go overboard.

What should I do? Is she too young to be wearing makeup? When is it ok for her to start wearing makeup?

Old Dominion has another #1…
Chris Stapleton teamed up with Pink…

Congratulations to Old Dominion. The guys just scored another number-one single with "Make It Sweet," which all five members of the band co-wrote. This is the band's fifth consecutive number one.

Pink has a new album and she is no stranger when it comes to collaborations with country. She teamed up with Kenny Chesney a few years ago for the hit “Setting the World on Fire,” and now Chris Stapleton joins her for "Love Me Anyway" -- a cut from her new album.
Hurts 2B Human, the new album is out now.

Midland had been teasing on social media that their new video for "Mr. Lonely" was coming today, even offering up a YouTube chat to answer questions prior to the release of the video.

Well, the video is now officially here and it does not disappoint! It was filmed on the set of the Netflix series The Ranch and was co-directed by band member Cameron Duddy and his brother Collin. Actor Dennis Quaid has the lead role of Mr. Lonely, who tries (hilariously) to avoid a bar full of scorned women looking to get their revenge. Check out Midland's new video below!

New Music From Tyler Rich!

Tyler Rich has released his next single, his follow up to his debut single "The Difference" from his self titled EP. Fans may be familiar with the track as he's been performing "Leave Her Wild" during his shows the last couple of months, but this is a new song that is not included on the EP. Is there an album in the works? We'll have to keep you posted on that!

Kansas anyone?

You can have 100 million dollars cash. Do anything you want with it. Spend it how you wish. The catch? You'd have to live in Kansas and you could never leave for the rest of your life! Would you take it?

That was my "Texter's Choice" question on Friday, April 26th. The results?

55% said "Yes" to the deal. 45% said "No way." What would you do?

Check out my daily "Texter's Choice" question every afternoon on WQMX at around 3:53pm...and hear the results when I announce them at 4:23pm!

Meet Two Great Guys!

The past few weeks I had the honor of remembering fondly the early part of my radio days.  A few weeks ago, Windy and I were in Nashville on a fun weekend, and I saw a great old friend named Dave Lenahan who is working at the Ryman these days.  Dave was the Program Director at WOBL in Oberlin, Ohio that gave me my first job in Country Radio, My first big break, back when the Earth was cooling.  My first job in radio was a Pop/Rock station (in those days)  WLRO in Lorian, Ohio I was 19.

Dave gave me my second radio job and introduced me to a whole new world that has been, and continues to be very good to me all these 38 years later -  every day!   I have worked at only Country Stations ever since Dave hired me.  It was great to see him.

Then a week or two later, I learned of the passing of a friend of mine named Damon Sheridan.  Damon gave me the second big break of my career, when he hired me to do mornings at WRMZ in Columbus, Ohio, a new Country Station, when I was newly 22 years old.  He hired me away from Dave at WOBL.

Damon Sheridan.  I wish I had a pic together with him.

I guess what I have been feeling is that we all have those we will never forget in our careers.  Those who made a HUGE impression, even if we are too busy to really digest it at the time, because all is happening too fast.  It was great to reconnect with these memories within a very short time.

To Dave, and Damon. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for your belief in me at the very beginning.  I will continue to try to do you both proud, all these decades later. Dave - It was great to see you, and Damon  - Rest well my friend.

Locks, Bagels and Head Gear!

WQMX’s Locks and Bagels event is tomorrow from 10am to noon at our studios in Akron.

I feel that every event and occasion in life calls for head gear, and this one is no different.

We think gun safety is important, so you can stop by and get a free gun lock courtesy of The Landskroner Foundation for Children and grab a free bagel from Einstein Brothers Bagels. While you are here you can also register to win a pair of 3 day passes to The Country Fest. It is a great event all around.

And while you are here, I will be here sporting my new bagel head gear, made by me! People ask me all time if I make all my own head gear. Shockingly enough, most of the time I actually am paying money for my head flair!!! Lately, I have felt inspired and I have been making my own. A little glitter, some creativity, a glue gun and I am unstoppable.

I realize this event is about gun safety and some things in life are more serious than others, but when I get invited to something my mind instantly gets thinking about head gear opportunities. It’s my curse, my purpose, my joy in life! It is just me! I hope to see you all tomorrow for Locks and Bagels!
