It's been a wild ride this summer... wet, rainy, hot, cool.  I have heard it is sweltering in Arizona, Texas and the South.  Parker McCollum made light of that the other day.

This is the truth.  Here in Ohio there hasn't been much of a summer.  I was expecting since school was back in session the scorching days would settle in.  Wednesday is supposed to be a high, A HIGH of 61...  Last week, most of the area was slammed with heavy winds, tons of rain, 3 earthquakes and 13 Tornados that touched down.  Some folks are still without power.

The Floridians and those that are near The Gulf of Mexico are preparing to get hit by Idalia.

I was in Corpus Christi, Texas for Katrina, Rita and Ike among others.  Luckily never a direct hit or even more than a low level CAT 3 Hurricane.  Thank goodness!!!  Preparing is not fun, boarding up your home, sandbags and just hope that it misses.

One year, as we prepared for Hurricane Ike our friends called and said come to the bar.  We walked in and the coverage was on every TV in the joint.  And then "this idiot" popped onto the screen...  I am so glad I got to see it live.

***bear suit is not recommended attire for hurricanes***

I feel for those that are readying for Idalia.  Hope everyone is safe. If people are told to leave, the best thing to do is to leave, IF you have a place to go.  Remember after a certain point the rescue workers can not make it out safely.  Thoughts and prayers for those in the prediction cone and areas of landfall and storm surge.  At this point Florida prepare for the worst and hope for the best.   Hurricane Season lasts thru November 30th.

Halloween

My son is a chip off the old block.  If you remember W-Boo-MX, I am a fan of Halloween.

I have been investing in Duct Tape lately as he is diligently working on his Halloween Costume in August.

Personally, I love it.  I want to help but he is diving in head and mask first.  The reason why I am happy...

Last year on Halloween Eve... he decided against a costume we bought, so he could wear black jogging pants and a black hoodie...

The first house is like, oh what are you hunny?  He replied "I'm a robber".   It really looked like there was no effort put into his costume.

So I'm hoping with all this effort sooo far out that he is going to stick with the idea and not change his mind at the last minute.

Now if I could just get him to do the rest of his summer reading that is due Monday...  Sheesh...

This is a picture of him years ago, slaying me in my Dragon Mascot Costume.

Protect Your Money Maker

Meeeee meeee meeeeeee!!!!  (clears throat).

If you have listened to the show... You know I am not a singer.  But in the singing game, a voice, is the money-maker!  Gotta Protect It!

Artists have to realize that after taking a huge chunk of time off during the pandemic. (not their fault)  Their voices will take time to strengthen for the abundance of shows they are putting on their vocal cords these days.

For some artists the pandemic was the biggest layoff of their careers. Now being back on the road for a full tour is overload.

Recently,

-Morgan Wallen was put on vocal rest by doctor's orders and missed a month of shows.

-Miranda had an illness that had her re-schedule a few of her residency shows.

-Luke Bryan had to cancel 3 shows due to illness.  Then Played 2 shows and then had to cancel another.

Vocal rest is nothing new.  Reba, Jon Pardi, Shania a lot of artists have been on ordered rest in the past.  It is just the nature of the business.  People get sick, strain vocals and can't make shows for some reason or another.  It is nothing personal against us the ticketholders! I understand the frustration.  Going, waiting to park, paying for parking, standing/waiting/getting into the venue, refreshments, concert memorabilia, just to turn around and have to do it all over again or just get a refund.

I realize this summer has been a really wet one for outdoor country shows.  We are Ohio!  Wait 5 minutes and the weather is different...   some shows have been like 5 hour delays, but they happened, and were worth it to me.   The artists, venues, promoters... no one wants to cancel million dollar shows or tours due to weather, voice, health or any instance.  Life happens... The artist wants to give you the best show because it's their livelihood and you pay their bills and keep them going.  They do not want to let you down.  If it is a vocal issue they have to wait for doctor's 'all clear'.  Let's just hope the rest of the outdoor shows go over without any hiccups...  You can't cancel a show for those???   Kidding.

Dylan Scott just dropped a few shows due to doctors vocal rest orders (not around Ohio):

Super "Shania" Fan

I think everyone is a huge fan of Shania Twain...

Wednesday Night is the Shania SuperFan Episode on CBS.  "Any Fan Of Mine" puns will rule the night, I am sure. (sorry had to)

We'll see who is "Still The One" that is Shania's SuperFan...

There are still Little Big Town and Kelsea Ballerini Episodes in the upcoming weeks.
