What I did over the weekend

I had a decently busy day on Saturday. I went to the shoe store and dropped $250 on some new kicks. That kinda hurt to watch my credit card get accepted...lol. I needed new tennis shoes badly, as the ones I have now are starting to really look grungy and have seen better days. My mom went with me because she needed something from the shoe store as well.

Then later in the day, I stopped by my mom's house to help her install new gutter guards on her gutters. Thankfully she lives in a condo and we didn't even do all of her gutters, because I was done. period. haha.

On Sunday, I did a whole lot of not much and spent the day (and weekend really) putting off cutting my grass. I REALLY need to do that on Tuesday.

It's Here!

Hard to believe, but week 1 of the High School Football season is here! It's crazy to think that for the next 10 weeks (maybe more depending), it'll be the place to go and thing to do on a Friday night. Most of my years in high school at Stow, we had bad teams. There was one year our record was 1-9 :(. I do remember though that in my senior year, a friend of mine and I said to each other that together we'd go to all 10 games - home & away no matter what.

We did. Let me tell you...we sat through some good games and bad games. I specifically remember travelling over to Kent for the game one week and it was FA-REEZING!!! I thought for sure I was going to get stuck to the bleachers!! LOL. We made it through the whole game though - and the whole season. If you make it out to catch some hs football this Fall, enjoy it!

Listen up if you watched 'Nashville'

If you are/were a fan of the TV show 'Nashville' you will want to read this! The cast is getting together for a reunion tour where they will be singing songs from the show's soundtrack. The only down side is that most of the dates are in the UK. They have only two US dates - Sep. 23rd in Chicago, and Sep. 25th in Nashville.

Jump on this now before you lose out! Neither of these dates are THAT far of a drive to make. If you want to see the cast, I'd take the opportunity. Click for details.

A remake of a classic

Brett Young's latest album, Across the Sheets, ends with the remake of a Tim McGraw classic - "Don't Take the Girl". It was Tim's first #1 single off of his 1994 album Not A Moment Too Soon. I think it's an amazing song, as many of our listeners do as well. Now Brett Young has put his own spin to it.

Tim says he thinks Brett did an excellent job with the song and "He sings his butt off!" Find a link to hear Brett Young's version of "Don't Take the Girl" here.

Attention if you are into Civil War history

This weekend (August 12th & 13th) at Hale Farm, they will be having their Civil War reenactment. It is said to be the largest in the state! The participants will re-create the first battle of Petersburg, VA in 1864, and there will be many arts and crafts of the time available as well. Living history exhibits are a great part of the weekend as well.

I remember going to this one year with my parents when I was maybe around ten years old. My dad was big into the history of the time and so we went to watch the battle reenactments and check out some of the toys and other crafts that were common in the 1860s. While I may not have been totally interested in being there at a young age, I am now able to appreciate why it's important to know that part of our history. Here is the article from The Plain Dealer with all of the needed information.

This would be so cool!

Not long ago, there was a bar full of patrons having a good time like any other day down in Key West. Nothing I'm sure had happened out of the ordinary that day to anyone until this...IN WALKS KENNY CHESNEY AND GIVES THEM AN IMPROMPTU PERFOMANCE!

Yes! This recently happened at an establishment down in the Florida Keys. Wouldn't that be the coolest thing to be out somewhere, just hanging out with friends or family and in walks a celebrity...who goes on to perform at said moment?! That has never happened to me and likely never will. I do wish you luck that it may happen to you one day, and maybe you could even get to meet the celebrity!

Today is National Cat Day

Since today is National Cat Day, I thought I would share this adorable picture of my cat Buttercup that I took earlier today. I want to draw your attention to how he is snuggled under the blanket asleep. HE did that, not me! I just put the blanket down for him on the couch and went to the grocery store. I came home and found him like this - sound asleep. I put groceries away, snapped this picture and left the house again and he never moved...I checked.

It would be awesome if it was bring your cat (or dog) to work day...although he doesn't travel well - but it's the thought! If you have a cat(s) in your household, HAPPY NATIONAL CAT DAY!
