I'll always be his neighbor

I grew up a HUGE fan of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. I watched it all the time and thought it was a big deal to go on the trolley ride through the neighborhood at Idlewild Park in Pennsylvania!

Late Sautrday night, I was scrolling through Netflix and found the documentary "Won't You be my Neighbor?" about Fred Rogers. It mostly covered how he got into television, how his work expanded into the show we all know, and how he fought to save funding for children's programming. There are interviews with a few cast members of his show, some crew members, and even his wife.

The documentary also delves into the struggles he had trying to decide how to cover tough topics of the 60s and 70s with kids. This was a very interesting documentary. If you grew up with Fred Rogers or have kids that grew up with him, I'd watch it!

National Chocolate Chip cookie Day

Today is National Chocolate Chip cookie Day! I don't know about you, but they are BY FAR my favorite kind of cookies. Some like them crunchy, some like them soft and gooey. I belong to the latter group...what about you?

I can' think of many things that make a better dessert than some of these cookies and a glass of milk. I really try to not indulge myself nearly as often as I did when I was younger for obvious reasons ;) LOL. Interesting fact - the Chocolate Chip cookie was invented in Massachusetts in 1938.

Have a couple for me today to celebrate!

Welcome another baby Gorilla!

The Metroparks Zoo is having another BIG celebration. They have announced the birth of the SECOND baby Gorilla born in the last three years at the zoo! This is huge news because until the baby boy was born at the zoo, they had NEVER had a Gorilla born at the facility in their entire history. Now, they have two in three years...a boy AND a girl!

As they both grow, make plans to stop and see them and the rest of the family at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo! Here is the story from Channel 3 News.

A little hard to follow...but good

Sunday afternoon I went to see the movie Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt and others. It's a movie that entertains you and makes you think at the same time. I thought the performances were very good. I also thought it's a little difficult to follow, but not so much that you get lost - I am someone who can get lost in a movie somewhat easily, but I was fine.

If you have time, I would say this one to check out. It's a big part of our history.

Not sure about this one either

Yesterday I talked about the mustard Skittles. Today, I feel I must talk about the Frosty Cold Brew at Wendy's. In all fairness and full disclosure, I do not drink coffee. I like the smell but cannot stand the taste. I'm sure if you DO drink coffee though, this will probably be a win!

I mean...C'MON it's a Wendy's Frosty! I am all for dipping your fries in the Frosty..YUM!!! Since I think dipping fries in the Frosty is so delicious, I am going to assume this combination is just as good until I hear otherwise. If you decide to try it I hope you like it!

Why Mustard?!

I mentioned last night that Skittles is adding a new flavor to a bag of candy near you - mustard. They've teamed up with French's to make these available for National Mustard Day August 5th. My question as Scott Wynn would say is "Do we need this?"

My thought is a big NO! This just sounds absolutely disgusting. I do not like mustard. If it ends up on a hot dog or hamburger by mistake that I've ordered, fine I can eat it. But I will NEVER order anything with mustard on it. So why on Earth would I want a piece in my bag of Skittles that tastes like mustard?

If you enjoy mustard and are actually looking forward to trying the new flavor...more power to you! Enjoy it! Me however, I think I'll sit this one out. Here is the article about it from People Magazine.

This show should be cool

One of my favorite things to do is to go to the theater. Not for a movie...but a play. I like a good broadway musical, and there is almost always a play that Great Lakes Theater puts on every year that I want to see. This year, that play is "Dracula: The Bloody Truth". The synopsis is that it's told from Van Helsing's point of view and is the story of Dracula. Except, this is supposed to be a funny version.

Over the course of the show, only three actors play 40 characters! I've seen a play like this before and it gets quite comical watching them change characters. I've seen Dracula made into a ballet (that was boring for an 11 year old), now I'm looking forward to seeing how Dracula can be made into a comedy.
