The most exciting month in basketball

It is that time of year - the college basketball tournament. How is your bracket doing so far? I am not filling one out this year, and I haven't for the past few years. Right now, I'm 50/50 with my favored teams. My Toledo Rockets were eliminated in the MAC tournament and as of now, the Tennessee Vols are in the 2nd round playing Duke on Saturday the 18th.

The entire tournament is so fun to watch. Game after game being one and done. You never know what might happen...even between a #1 and a #16! Good luck with your brackets and enjoy the games!!

Always a great excuse for a parade

Friday is St. Patrick's Day. It is also the day of the annual Cleveland St. Patrick's Day parade. The first parade in Cleveland took place in 1842 and was organized by Rev. Peter McLaughlin. The parade will start at 1:00 in Downtown Cleveland, and as usual will travel down Superior Ave from E 18th St to Public Square.

If you happen to be planning on going, you may want to pack a coat and an umbrella. The forecast is looking wet with scattered showers (rain THANKFULLY, LOL) and temps in the mid 40s. A cold rain - not the most fun way to watch a parade. But hey, it's the day where everyone is Irish! Plus, I have a feeling that many people will have had a beverage or two where they will not really care ;).

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

National Pi Day

Tuesday  (03-14) is National Pi Day. If you remember from school, Pi is 3.1415927. HOWEVER, most people take the opportunity to celebrate the day with the more appetizing pie.

My favorite is a pie from Hartville Kitchen. A good Peanut Butter/Chocolate Cream (or just Chocolate Cream). I also like Apple, and can go with a good Banana Cream as well. Whatever your favorite may be, enjoy Pi Day with a delicious slice of your favorite flavor of pie! Tell them Eric Matthews said to do it ;)

Scream 6 - I loved it!

Saturday afternoon I took a little time and went to see the new Scream movie, Scream 6. I absolutely loved it! I love all six movies in the franchise. You would think by now they would start to falter in the quality of the stories, and the twists and surprises. Personally, I don't think they have. Of course there are some things that you just see coming while you're in line for popcorn! And then there are others that do come out of left field and catch you off guard.

If you like movies that are funny and make you jump here and there, I would definitely reccommend Scream 6. Particularly have seen the first five.

Time to change the clocks

Here we are! It's that weekend in the year where we lose an hour of sleep. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour before bed Saturday night. Plus, it's time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors. I have never enjoyed losing the sleep, however, I LOVE the extra daylight in the evening! I think it just makes the day feel so much longer when it stays light out later.

I am looking forward to 9:00 sunsets in late June and early July! Again, don't forget to set your clocks ahead this weekend - you don't want to be late to wherever you are headed on Sunday! LOL

Time to wake up!

Here comes Spring! As another sign of the change in seasons, a park wildlife biologist in Yellowstone has seen the first Grizzly Bear out of hibernation looking for food. First, it was very little snow and warm temperatures. Then it was certain flowers deciding that now would be a good time to pop up. Next, it's that we change our clocks this weekend. NOW it's the bears are waking up!! I think Spring will be here soon.

So let this be your official warning...if you are planning to go to Yellowstone National Park soon, protect that picnic basket!

National Cereal Day

Tuesday was National Cereal Day. The most popular in the country is...Cheerios. Yes, a bowl of Honeynut Cheerios is often my breakfast most mornings anymore, but I have had a few other go-to cereals throught the years.

I have always loved:

1. Cinnamon Toast Crunch

2. Count Chocula

3. Frosted Flakes

4. Fruit Loops

5. Cookie Crisp

When I was young, my brothers were big fans of Cap'n Crunch. One Saturday morning I decided I'd try some. WOW, that did not turn out well! lol. I took one bite and I was done -I couldn't stand the taste...kinda like Peeps!

Whether you are a regular connoisseur or just a here-and-there grazer, Happy National Cereal Day :)

Whenever there is a natural disaster, everyone scrambles to make sure people affected are taken care of with supplies they need. Often times, pets can kind of get overlooked - that's where Miranda Lambert comes in!

She has teamed up with Tractor Supply Company to launch her "Relief for Rescues" fund to provide support for animal shelter pets after natural disasters or after they're rescued from hoarding situations. This is another arm of her MuttNation Foundation.

Miranda started MuttNation with her mother in 2009, and was in Houston in 2017 after Hurricane Harvey helping to rescue and transport animals. It's work that is very important to her and is definitely a cause I personally can get behind 100%. Way to go, Miranda!

These are the stockings my mom bought Buttercup and I for Christmas this past year, and yes, as of March 6th they are still on the mantel! LOL

First, I think the hooks for them (especially the cat's) are really cute. Second, I've just been lazy to take them down and not sure where to store them so I remember where I put them. In my house lately cats toys, tools, etc seem to find a way to just disappear. I have NO IDEA where they go!!! It is so frustrating. So maybe I'm afraid I'll forget where I have put these stockings for this December.

Please realize my goal is to have them taken down this week. I definitely don't want them still up on the mantel at 4th of July! HAHA
