Listen and then tell me what you think

Keep It or Kick It is back once again tonight! During the New @ Nine, I'll be featuring the song "Don't Let The Old Man In" by Toby Keith. Keith is planning to re-release the track after his performance at the People's Choice Country Awards.

We will give it a listen shortly after 9:00 and then it'll be time for you to call or text me on the Cricket Wireless Text Line and tell me what you think of the song.

Thanks for your participation!

Bosom Buddies 2023

Last night at the Civic Theater was so much fun! The show by Priscilla Block & Chase Rice was AWESOME! The VIP auction raised a lot of money for a great cause, and the raffles for the gifts and 50/50 went very well too!

It was great to see so many loyal listeners at the event as well. We thank you for all of your support and hope you had as much fun last night as we did.

How about we do it again next year? ;)

Who in Northeast Ohio ISN'T a fan of "A Christmas Story"?! The movie is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and they are bringing the celebration to Cleveland November 10th-12th!

Cast members, panels about the movie, MERCH!!!! - it'll be like Cleveland's own little Christmas Story Con!!!!

It all takes place at Cleveland Public Auditorium. Find the full details from the Plain Dealer here.

What I did over the weekend

Friday evening I went with traffic reporter extraordinare Steffany Nicole to see "Pod Meets World: The Kids Wanna Jump Tour" at the Ohio Theatre down at Playhouse Square. It was such a great time! The actors who played Shawn, Topanga, and Eric on Boy Meets World are hosting a podcast rewatching the series and talking to other cast members about their experiences on set. They have decided to take the idea on the road, and Cleveland was the stop on Friday night.

Growing up, TGIF on ABC was such a huge part of my week. I specifically remember watching Family Matters at 8:00, Boy Meets World at 8:30, Step By Step (RIP Suzanne Somers) at 9:00, and Hangin' With Mr. Cooper at 9:30. Sometimes I'd still be awake enough to see Hugh and Barbara come on with 20/20 at 10:00 :) lol. Listening to this podcast and re-watching some episodes is really bringing back some memories for me! I really enjoyed seeing three members of the cast explain what the show meant to them, and how big of a following it really has! The audience was wild!!! It really sounded like we were at a taping back in 1999.

Steffany and I had a great time!

Keep It or Kick It returns!

Friday night at 9:00, during the New At Nine, we will be featuring a new song for you. It's a new song from Jon Pardi and Luke Bryan. Rick Allen will play it for you and then ask for your votes! We wanna see if you think WQMX should keep the song or kick it to the curb!

Listen tomorrow night at 9pm to the New At Nine to hear the song on WQMX!

It's the middle of October and I am giving away haunted house passes with movie trivia for WBOO-MX, so let's talk more about scary movies. My favorites are the Halloween series as well as the Scream series. Another one I really liked was Insidious - but I've only seen the first.

One that I DON'T like - The Strangers from 2008. The thing is...I actually DID like it, but it scares me to death!!! I remember seeing it in the theater and not being able to sleep well for probably about a week! I don't know that I am comfortable ever watching it again. The scene where Liv Tyler is standing in the kitchen and one of the killers come from out of the shadows behind her back already in the house did it for me...NO THANK YOU!

Enjoy your scary movie viewing this Halloween season!

Happy World Mental Health Day

Today is World Mental Health Day. It's a chance to check on yourself and others around you to see that everyone is doing well in their own way. Some of us are better at that than others.

Speaking as someone who has dealt with mental health issues for 15 years, I can say days like this are important. We want to de-stigmatize having a mental illness. Many moe people deal with some sort of mental health issue than most of us realize. A big thing for me was saying "I have an issue, and I need to seek help for it."

My trouble comes and goes. It could be months between an episode, but when one hits - it's rough. Please take today to work toward ending the stigma of mental illness and working toward possible solutions with those you know who suffer.

Happy World College Radio Day

The first Friday of October is World College Radio Day! I, like many others, got started at my college radio station. WXUT-Toledo at the University of Toledo. Our "official" fomat was Alternative Rock, although they allowed us to take our show and make it anything we wanted to. Therefore, I played the music I had from home on CDs.

My shift was Friday mornings 8-10. I will tell you, being in college I didn't always want to get out of bed at 7:15. I did it though because I knew it was part of the career path I wanted to follow. I had my fun times there and it led to bigger things as well. I was able to land my internship at a cluster there in Toledo to fulfill my credits. I was able to gain very valuable experience that I still use to this day.

How often do you use it?

A couple days ago, I was sitting in the house and heard a thud in my driveway. I looked outside to see that the new phonebook had been dropped off for my convenience. The only thing is...it's been YEARS since I have needed to use one!

What about you? Do you still use it? Maybe a rolodex? A little black book? I was thinking that in 2023 the internet is our phonebook. Whether on the computer or even on our phones themselves. Kinda strange they still take the effort to print new phonebooks and deliver them out isn't it?
