The winter wonderland look

I was out driving Monday afternoon and noticed how nice the trees look with the snow on them. I also noticed the same thing looking out my front window at home. The trees in my neighborhood and the street look so nice with a fresh layer of snow on them.

We are supposed to get some more mid-week (with maybe rain mixed in...yuck!), but hopefully not too much. It isn't fun to drive in (not all the time ;)), but once the roads are clear and the snow is actually still white I think it looks so nice!

Even though I love the look it gives, I still wouldn't mind the 50s and 60s we had recently coming back for another extended visit. LOL

Let's go bowling for charity!

It's almost time for the 3rd annual Red White & Bowl! This year we are going to be at Stonehedge Entertainment on Cuyahoga Falls Ave. in Akron. Bowling is one of my favorite things to do in my "spare time" ;) lol. We will have great prizes with the silent auction, the 50/50 raffle, and Neon Union with an acoustic performance!

Since you're reading this on our website, why not purchase your lane for up to 5 people while you're here?! Plus, proceeds benefit NEOPAT!

We look forward to seeing you for Red White & Bowl next month :)

Have you voted yet?

USA Today is conducting a contest to see what is America's favorite music museum. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum is one of the options!!! Go vote for it now!

I love the Rock Hall. It took me forever to go there the first time - one of those 'it's in my backyard, so I never really think to go' kinda things. I'm glad I have been - it's so much fun!

First, it's a beautiful building. Second, there is SO MUCH cool memorabilia from several genres of music. I personally can always skip the actual "Hall of Fame" part. I'm there to see the momentos and artifacts like the Michael Jackson glove, or a Diana Ross dress, or a napkin that an artist wrote lyrics on.

Anyway, go vote for our local treasure! You have until noon on February 13th to vote, and the winner will be announced February 24th!

I got new eyes!

On Tuesday afternoon I went to pick up my new glasses! I put them on and they were a perfect fit right away! No adjustments needed :). No new prescription or anything, just had extra $$$ at the end of 2022 that needed spent or I would lose it, so I got new frames.

I don't know about you, but I cannot go to look at glasses alone. I need a friend or family member with me to get their opinion on how things look on me. It seems so many frames are so alike anymore, it can be very difficult!

So far, I am very happy with my choice. I like the way they look and they are very comfortable!

A great place to go!

I don't know if I have mentioned before, but my family has been vacationing in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee (Dolly Parton's hometown) for almost 25 years. It's so beautiful there with so much to do for everyone. Did I mention the people? They are so nice!

One of the most fun things to do there is spend a day (or two) at Dollywood. The park offers something for everyone! Shopping, eating, live shows, and rides! The rides are starting to really be top notch! Plus, the lines are not nearly as long as you find at that amusement park in Sandusky, lol (ssshhhh).

If you and your family are looking for a place to go for vacation and have never been, I highly suggest going to Pigeon Forge/Sevierville/Gatlinburg, TN. You will have SO MUCH FUN and will not regret it!

My Top 5 Songs of 2022

OK. News Years Day was two weeks ago, so I'm a little late to the party with this list. Anyway, 2022 was a year that had a lot of great music so it was hard to decide which songs I thought were in my top 5.

I gave this a lot of thought late last week to put the list together and did my fair share of research to make sure I had things correct and the way I wanted them. There were many that ALMOST made the list, or I couldn't decide between two, etc.

Long story short, here are my Top 5 songs of 2022:

5. Gabby Barrett - Pick Me Up

4. Cole Swindell - She Had Me at Heads Carolina

3. Kane Brown - Like I Love Country Music

2. Kelsea Ballerini - Heartfirst

1. Nate Smith - Whiskey on You

It's Heatin' Up!

Everyday we bring you the Entertainment Update. It's a look at the concert calendar for Northeast Ohio.

This time of year it can be pretty short, as not a lot is going on in the middle of January, lol. BUT, let me tell you...things are going to change fast! We've had a couple big announcements this week, and more to come. A couple I cannot tell you about quite yet, but they are BIG!

It'll be fun to get out to outdoor venues again for Summertime shows and frankly back out to concerts again no matter what! Looking forward to another great concert season!

Finally around to it

I have finally gotten around to beginning Season 5 of The Crown. In case you aren't in the know, this is following the Royals in the Early-Mid 90s. So far I have watched only the first two episodes. Charles and Diana are married, William and Harry are either side of 5-7 years old, and the marriage is starting to really fall apart.

The last thing I have seen to this point is that Diana is helping to "write" her 1992 tell-all book, and Prince Philip tells her it's not the best idea.

Now I know this is a show for entertainment purposes that has elements of real events and stories woven in. Looking back, it is kind of sad to see because they are a real family even though they are seen as the world's royal family. At the same time, it is intended as an entertainment venture for that purpose - to entertain. Boy does it! Definitely binge worthy material.

Mark Your Calendars

If you own a lot of old stuff and/or enjoy old stuff mark June 6th on your calendar! The PBS show Antiques Roadshow will be in Akron to tape a total of three episodes.

The location has yet to be announced, but this should be a ton of fun! If you have that item in your attic or basement that has been handed down through the generations and you're wondering if it's worth anything, dust it off and consider taking it to the experts...and who knows, you may end up on TV!!!

Start searching your house now for that prized antique and good luck.
