If you or a loved one are around the University of Akron area, make sure to pick up a copy of The Buchtelite! It's UA's student run newspaper and the physical fall edition just dropped. I got the pleasure of talking to Savannah from the paper about WZIP's 60th anniversary. It was definitely a blast to do and wonderful to read! There's lots of other great articles to check out as well, like great editorials and student opinions.
Definitely get your hands on it if you can! Happy anniversary WZIP!
Education is important, but sometimes the responsibility of getting it can take away time from the things you enjoy. Think of your mom saying you aren't allowed to go out and play until your homework is done, or no TV until you study for that big test. For me, and I imagine a lot of people, that thing was reading. I had stopped reading for leisure about midway through highschool and didn't really get back into it until I got my first full time job after college. It's been extremely relaxing and fun to get back into a hobby I'd been neglecting for so long!
With reading more often comes more trips to the library. I love the library. It's always nice to have a quiet place to retreat to and know friendly faces will help you find what you need. Plus, I can always find a movie I've been wanting to watch while I get my books! I've been a huge bookworm since I was a child and so visiting the library to get my reserves is a joy I've experienced time and time again. It's been great to feel that again as of late and get back into reading so many types of books. I hope you find the time to get back into a hobby you've been neglecting for a while as well!
Look I'm gonna be real, this post is mostly for anyone who hasn't seen Black Panther: Wakanda Forever yet. So no spoilers but not a super in depth review.
I've talked to a lot of people that have been on the fence about seeing this movie in theaters, which is strange because it's not that they haven't gotten a chance to (I could understand that as it just opened this weekend) but that they're not sure if they will. That or they're waiting until it comes out on Disney+. And to that I just ask, why? What sets this marvel movie aside from the others that have come out this year? Are the expectations different? Are we afraid that it'll be a miss in the, let's face it, likely chance it is one in this phase of the MCU?
In my opinion, you should go out and see it. Not only is it a great film installment in this expanding universe (or even multiverse) but it's a tasteful tribute to Chadwick Boesman as well. It's not your typical MCU movie but in a very good way. Have an open mind and if you're still not sure and you pay for Disney+ anyway then go ahead and wait. I'm the kind of person that goes out and watches every MCU movie opening weekend anyway. But I hope this and its huge box office success convinces you otherwise if you're waiting.
Murder! Rich People! Southern Accents! All of this and more on this week's trailer spotlight Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The trailer dropped earlier this week just in time for Oscar Consideration season and the holidays. The movie will be in select theaters on Thanksgiving and available to stream via Netflix on Christmas.
Knives Out is definitely one of the best murder mystery movies to come out in recent years, and I'm excited to see the sequel! There's another star studded cast with suspects like Jennifer Hudson, Dave Batista, and Janelle Monae, with Daniel Craig making a return as well. Its sure to be just as thrilling, funny, and shocking as before!
Check out the trailer below!
As we throw out our pumpkins that have gone bad, and we put away our 12 foot skeletons, it's time to turn to the other holiday boxes we have on our shelves. But before you hang up your tinsel or bring out your menorahs, I regret to inform you that it is NOT Christmas (or any December holiday) yet.
Every time I say this I'm immediately seen as a scrooge by most people already taken by the holiday season, but to that I say that Christmas, the holiday I celebrate EVERY year, is my favorite holiday, perhaps second only to Halloween. Trust me, by the time December 1st rolls around, I too will join in on your merriment and drink peppermint hot chocolate and sing jingle bell rock while wrapping the gifts and trimming the tree. But as someone that is also a fall fanatic I beg you: LET ME ENJOY THIS TIME!
Let me enjoy crunching the leaves under my feet without seeing candy canes in the driveway. Let me enjoy the taste of chai before I start making gingerbread. Let me enjoy my mom's Thanksgiving stuffing before I look for that Christmas ham.
Look you do you, but if I start singing Christmas carols and rewatch Home Alone now I will for sure be burned out by the time the 25th of December rolls around. So if you excuse me, I'll be sipping my chai latte and watching the rest of the leaves fall before it's turkey time.
It's midterm election day here in Ohio so remember to go out and vote! Polls close at 7:30 PM, but remember to stay in line if it hits past that mark! voting is the best way to get your voice heard and make a change in your community!
Have a great election day!
I hope y'all had a great weekend! I had a great one myself so I thought I'd talk about it! Saturday I went to Akron Comicon for one reason and one reason only: Cobra Kai. Gianni DeCenzo, who plays my favorite character on the show Demetri, was there and I got to meet him and it was an incredible experience! Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity that I'm glad I didn't miss out on. Afterward I went to Missing Mountain Brewery and tried Pink Peaks (FINALLY) which was divine. Later that night I watched Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and I highly recommend it for the ending alone. Sunday I went to Columbus to visit family and friends and it was a blast, as always. Definitely a weekend for the books, and I'm so glad I spent it with such amazing people in my life!
Hello world!
So as you may have noticed, I've been pretty scarce these last few weeks. In case you've been wondering where I was, I've been sick! It was the first time in a long time that it's happened, and yes, it was the sickness we dare not name. The good news is I'm feeling better! Luckily I got sick the weekend Gotham Knights came out so I wasn't totally bored either. Just the occasional sneeze now, and I'm excited to come back tonight and kick off the weekend! I'm so glad I'm feeling better and I hope you'll join me tonight for the same great music you love and some new songs along the way!
Remember to take care of yourself, and work with your doctor to stay healthy this cold, flu, or whatever ails you season!
As I drive to work in the evening, I can't help but notice how lovely the fall leaves still look on the trees. Although the pretty colors will fade soon, it feels like the perfect moments of autumn are happening all around us. Chai and pumpkin spice compliment the crisp air, Halloween shopping and Thanksgiving turkey ads are on our minds, and foods like apples and sweet potatoes make it back onto our plates. I can't help but say TGIF (Thank Goodness It's Fall!)
I hope you enjoy the season over your weekend!
The wait is finally over: the fifth season of the highly acclaimed british royal drama series The Crown finally has a release date! On November 9th, we can expect more drama from an all new cast, picking up a little later than where we left off. Personally, I know that this fictionalized version of the Windsors is just that, fiction, but it's still intrueging and so well put together! I'll be watching. Make sure you check out the trailer below!
