This trailer Thursday, I decided to do something different. Instead of a trailer for a movie or series, I decided this week we'll take a look at the new direction the DC Universe is going with James Gunn at the helm. I'm a huge fan of his work, and although I'm disappointed in a lot of decisions that lead to changes in the DCEU (Henry Cavill IS Superman.) There's a lot of interesting stuff headed our way with the universe reset.
This first chapter is called God and Monsters. There's a few things I'm interested in, especially the Waller series and the Wonderwoman and Supergirl projects. There's a lot to unpack here with some timeline stuff, so make sure you watch the video below!
For the last few weeks I've been taking a boxing class and it's been an awesome experience! I've been wanting to try it for a long time, and I finally took the plunge after signing up for a gym membership at the start of the year. It's been super fun learning a new sport, and punching things is always a blast. I'm hoping to get stronger yet leaner, and have some good self defense moves along the way. Afterwards I feel so many different things. Proud, like I had an amazing workout, and a LOT of muscles that I didn't know I had been really sore. It really is a full body workout, and it's been a great start to the new year having a consistent routine!
I'm so looking forward to continuing my boxing journey and getting better along the way!
It's the last day of Dry January! This is the first year that I've actually taken it seriously, and I think it was a great start to the new year! In all honesty I don't drink a lot, but I was in quite a few situations where I wish I could have. It honestly surprised me how often it came up. But I have an awesome support system full of people who are sober, and some who appreciated having a designated driver. I'm excited to do it again next year, and I'm also excited to have a nice drink this upcoming weekend. If you're dry, damp, or the DD cheers to you and have a great February!
I love movies, and I love it when movies I love get recognized! And with the Academy Awards this year, it looks like The Academy and I have similar tastes (for once). A lot of my favorites, like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Elvis, and The Fablemans all got different nominations. Check out the list below and see if your favorite got nominated!
The snow yesterday was AMAZING! It's crazy how snow without ice is 1000 times better than snow with ice! The roads are clear, it's not too cold, and it looks absolutely gorgeous outside! What could be better than that?
A lot of my friends took advantage of the lovely snow and went on walks through the park. The dogs love to play in it when they go outside. I prefer looking at it through a window with a hot cup of cocoa (or tea!)
I hope you're enjoying the snow as much as I am!
This trailer just dropped today, and now I'm even MORE excited for the movie! Scream VI is, well, the sixth installment of the Scream franchise. The movies had a soft reboot last January, and as a huge fan of the original films, I loved it! This new one takes place in NYC, and looks a little more...violent? Than the others we've seen before (and that's saying a lot!) I'm excited to see it in March!
Check out the trailer below! (Content Warning: Violence)
After months of saving, searching, applying, and touring, I have finally found a new place to call home! I'm so excited to have a place that I can call my own. I've been living with my family for such a long time, and I'm so grateful to have had a place to stay while I found somewhere to live! I'm so excited for so many things, cooking in my own kitchen, a new yard, a porch, and a shorter commute! The only downside: bills. I don't want to buy new furniture either, but I'm excited to have new furniture, if that makes sense.
Now all I have to do is pack, prep, and get moving!
I'm participating in Dry January this year, and it's been going pretty well so far. I didn't realize how often drinking came up in my life, and it's weird to not say no just cause I don't want it, but also because I can't have it. But alas, this story doesn't start here, it starts where my food stories usually do: I bought a thing from Trader Joes and wanted to find a way to use it.
I got "Quite Possibly The World's Largest Fusilli" a few weeks ago, and instead of making a giant fusilli Jerry, I decided to date a craving I had: Pasta Alla Vodka. I thought the pastas size was perfect for holding onto the sauce. If you have a bar with vodka in it, you probably have the other ingredients you need already at home: butter, garlic, an onion or shallot, heavy cream, tomato paste, crushed red pepper, and of course, vodka. You just combine all the ingredients, add pasta water, and you have a delicious sauce on your hands.
I definitely should've halved the amount of pasta I used, and maybe less tomato paste, but overall it was delicious. It does make me wonder though, is this allowed during dry January? Since the alcohol gets cooked out, I don't think so, and it might help you get rid of any booze you have in your home without drinking!
This trailer Thursday I'm highlighting the latest from A24: Beau is Afraid. A24 is not usually known for its linear storytelling, and this trailer is no exception. I'm not even entirely sure how to explain it, but if you're a Joaquin Phoenix fan, be sure to check it out! I definitely will be.
Here's the trailer for Beau is Afraid.
Sif had her very first grooming appointment and she is stylin! Her fur is all fluffy and her shedding has reduced significantly! She also smells really nice. Apparently she was a tad dramatic during her appointment, shiba's have a tendency to scream (search "shiba scream" on Youtube) and Sif has a bit of anxiety. She still seems a little tired from the experience but we got her her favorite treats as a reward! Hopefully she gets a little more used to it in the future.
