Tracy Byrd  - Love Lessons  -  1995  - (Album - Love Lessons)

He had a bunch of big songs in the 1990's an d some of them were gigantic hits!  We still hear Watermelon Crawl, and I'm From The Country and others.  But this gem has gotten lost and that's a shame.  No surprise though, as right now it is not as cool to record a nice love song overall.  And that's what this is.  It's just a nice song, with a nice message.  It was a top 5 song, and worth another listen.

Faith Hill recorded a ton of big hit songs over the course of many years.  At first, Faith was pure country, but as time went on, she became more pop country and eventually morphed into more than just a country star, but became a pop culture icon musically and in other avenues.  She sold millions of albums, sang and performed in about every venue and setting there is.  And it's all a result of this little song that became a gigantic hit from a very successful album. This song is interesting as well as important, as it was released well into Faith's run. But this reinvented her into something far more than simply a country singer.  It's one of the best examples ever of the right song, ending up exactly where it should have as it was highly synonymous with her life at that exact moment celebrating her new marriage to Tim McGraw.  We were cheering her on and believed every single word of this song, and it showed in its chart performance. This is one of those songs that changes careers, and introduces an artist to a whole new realm of fans.  Many of her fans loved her song, Breathe, and may call it their Faith favorite, and I do too. But this monster song made that song and many others possible. Number one country, and top five adult contemporary and this was a hit on charts around the world. The album sold millions and changed everything for her, as it made her a Mega Star.   Quite frankly, it's a career record.

When it comes to chicken thighs, I am a man way ahead of my time.  I have loved them my entire life, as I am a dark meat lover with chicken and turkey.  No doubt white meat makes better sandwiches, but when we're cooking and hot meat?  I love chicken thighs. Try these!

Hard Workin' Man  - Brooks And Dunn - 1993 -  (Album - Hard Workin' Man)

Yes, even big time artists like these guys can find their way into the Forgotten Jukebox.  This gem from early in their career was a very important song for them.  It totally connected them to the average Joe and Joette.  This represents a lot of what they were all about. Very clean, very tidy, topical songs that fans could relate to.  This also is in a long line of some very slick videos from them as well that really helped elevate their career  It's one of my favs from them, and it's also hard to fathom this was over 30 years ago. Where has the time gone?

Songs on this list are important for various reasons, and one of them is what they started. That's what's going on here. When Dwight Yoakam released this single, country was desperately looking for a new direction that would be the next great phase and hopefully put us on a far more successful path. And this single was a very big part of that.  This launched the career of Yoakam and his sound and look helped reinvent the format, opening the door for a far more traditional sound, and showing the fading and faded "pop country" the door.  I have always contended that Randy Travis and Yoakam really helped save the format, as they showed up about the same time and were both incredibly successful right from the get-go.  They each had a very distinct vocal sound that separated them from the pack at the time.  This was a #3 hit off the Guitars And Cadillac's album (EP) and was exceedingly popular with fans.  His image, style, and stage presence was also very new and fresh as he stirred up a lot of new fans with that as well.  The class of 1989 gets a lot of credit for country's massive popularity and it's deserved.  But this era a few years earlier without any question opened the door for them.  This song turned a lot of heads and helped to set us on a new and exciting road for years to come.
